Finally after 4 years!! My husband and I signed today for our first fifth wheel and boy to I have many questions.
My husband oversees the construction of hospitals and I his secretary. We move any where from 6 months to 18 months. The company we work for have always taken such incredible care of our moves but regardless it takes a month out of your life transferring each time. So for 4 years we have tossed around moving into an RV to avoid the moving process and 2 weeks ago finally found what we were looking for and DID IT!! I have been preparing for the last 8 months down sizing (18,ooo LBs of furniture to now 6000). I'm getting there
I would LOVE some ideas, lessons learned or advice from veteran full timer's. I believe we are truly considering a trailer to pull behind our other truck to carry golf clubs, seasonal cloths, tools and so on. I am purchasing acrylic drinkware, Corelle dishes and things lighter and not so breakable.
Also, we see many with the dishes for cable TV, is it best to purchase a dish or is there any other options.? Here is a good one ............ Can you have a DVR in an RV?
Our new home is a Voltage, 2012 Model 3950.
Looking so forward to getting in our unit and joining the wonderful world of RV'ers!! We have been waiting for this for so long.
Thanks in advance for all the feedback......... we need it

Welcome Russ and Tal,
I don't know if you've been "lurking" around for very long, but if not, you will find a lot of friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable folks here to help you with questions. While many questions may be repeated, each person can bring a different perspective to the same ones. So, fire away with questions and comments.
As for the DVR in an RV, I certainly hope so. We recently moved into our coach and we are scheduled for a representative from Direct TV after the first of June. One of the things we are getting is a DVR as well.

We have Tivo and it works just fine in the RV. Best invention since sliced bread, as Grandma used to say!

We have the Dish Network DVR in our's. I like the idea of being able to watch two different tv's(we don't like the same stuff) and only having one reciever in use.

About the DVR, if you get Direct TV you have to run two wires from the dish to record one channel while watching another. Our dish is mounted on top of the 5th wheel and I didn't want a wire run on the outside of the unit so we can only record if we aren't watching tv or are not home. It works for us but there have been times I would have recorded one show while watching another.
