We're considering starting a food business on the road to make money to travel. We would try to attend RV shows, boat shows, home shows and fairs (larger). Is there anyone out there that already does this? We've done some research, but we're having trouble with the rules for selling food from a "cart" with state, county regulations and wanted to get an ear full from someone already doing it.

Ruth and Dan,
The food cart industry is not easy. But many do it with success. We have been Arts and Crafts venders for over 25 years and have talked to many food venders. All have stated the frustration of dealing with some state but mostly city and county health and license requirements. The best source that I can think of for good solid information are food cart venders at large state and county fairs. I wish you the best of luck in your future plans.

Thanks We2RV. As we are looking into more, we're finding that the regs are different everywhere. Well thanks for taking the time to share your information. Happy travels!!

Ruth and Dan,
We work for large outdoor music festivals around the country, although not as food vendors. Most of them have a vendor tab on their website and when you request info, the packet usually includes what you need to do for their location.
Also, in case you did not already know, their are several websites dedicated to outdoor festivals, one is www.festheads.com. You can search by locations or venues. Once you locate a festival or festivals you are interested in, you can then look around the festival's site to see if the info is their or you need to request a vendor's packet.
Hope this helps.

Doris,
I did not know about the website for outdoor fests...thanks for that bit of info. I'll keep doing the research thing. Congrats on getting out on the road full-time. How's it going with you guys so far?
We looked at the mobile suites while at the RV-Dreams Rally in TN. It's very nice.
Happy travels to you guys!!

Ruth, good luck on the search for festivals1 If you ever decide to do the Country Stampede in Manhattan KS...be sure and say hi to Adrienne...she handles all the vendor stuff.
Monday will be our 1 month anniversary and we are THOROUGHLY enjoying ourselves!
We love our MS and can't imagine living in anything else now.
Hope to see you at a festival one day!!
