We are looking to replace our mattress l Does anyone have any information on a tempflowrv 6000 mattress? It sounds good but it's also pricey. Would like an opinion either pro con.

How much is "pricey"? What size are you considering?

I think the price was around $700.00 plus shipping. We were thinking 60 x 75, which is the norm, I guess, for a queen. We do have a foam topper on the mattress now but it has not made that much of a difference.

We replaced our mattress with a Sleepnumber queen (real queen, not short queen). We love it! Sleep number sells a special mattress for RVs; I think it has to meet superior fire resistance standards.

I would look around at a mattress store and see what you find. There are lots of memory foam beds out there. The air circulation looks to be a nice gimmick but unlikely to change your quality of sleep. If you are anywhere near 6' tall I would recommend getting the full length queen if it will fit

Thanks, I really appreciate your feed-back. It's so nice to "talk" to people "who have been there". A friend suggested getting on-line; glad we did. Guess we'll check further into a mattress. We have purchased a memory foam topper, 3", so will try that until we can come up with something else. We are not full-timers, yet.

We love our Sleep Number bed. It is the residential version, not the RV version that Camping World sells. We did have a problem with the LED segments in both controllers going out so that we could not tell what our settings were. So we had to run them all the way down and then back up to the desired settings by counting the number of times we press the 'increase' button. Annoying . So we called the company and they sent us a replacement pump and two new wireless remotes (the previous remotes were 'wired'). They offer a discount based upon the length of time you've had your bed. I think we had to pay somewhere around $100 for the replacement, which was about 50% off. Since we've had the unit 4 years, we considered this fair.

We bought our sleep number mattress at a Sleep Number store in a mall. They beat Camping World's prices. I'm not sure if Camping World sells the true queen size. We have friends who bought a short queen and hated it (too short).

Just today we found out the difference between an RV sleepnumber bed and a residential sleep number bed. The RV bed has automatic deflating when the pressure increases in it.....need that for going high altitude over mountain passes. Otherwise just remember to decrease the pressure before you hit the pass.

Now, I didn't know that. Too bad I don't have an occasion yet to go to Colorado to test that out. But, if it really does that, it will certainly help this "old fogey" with CRS.
Thanks for the tip.
Incidentally, we also love our Select Comfort bed. The advantage is that each person can set their own settings for comfort and both can rave about the mattress. Jo sets hers on about 50-60 and I'm anywhere from 80 to 100.

Sleep number will send you a information booklet, cd and a $50 gift card. The gift card is only good from a Sleep number store. The RV mattress is equivalent to the Performance series P5 mattress. The booklet has a price of $2249 for the P5 and the RV edition at camping world is $1499.99 for the king size. The customer service rep at sleep number told me the only place to get the king size rv is from camping world. They (sleep number) can not sell the rv mattress.

A thought about the foam mattresses. I read for another camper that while traveling in cold weather they decided to get in the rig, turn on the furnace and get a few hours sleep. The foam mattress was like a cold brick. After 20 minutes or so, they got up and traveled down the road.

We have been thinking of the foam mattress. We slept on one in a high end hotel a few years back and it as the best sleep I ever had. We didn't know it was a memory foam mattress when we were sleeping on it. I was so impressed with the mattress that I asked at the front desk while checking out what the brand and type was. They told me that the hotel was just then changing out all of there mattresses to the memory foam type and that was what I had slept on. I've been hooked ever since.
For me, I like the idea that the foam bed is passive, not needing power to operate.
All of that said, I have not slept on a sleep number bed. Are there members out there that have had both and what are their comments?

There's a foam store where I live, and you can buy a thick, queen sized slab of memory foam for $300, then go to Target and Walmart for a mattress cover. Foam shops can also custom cut it to size for you. Instant "Temperpedic" for much, much less! Right now, I've just put a few layers of egg crate foam and memory foam on my RV mattress for cheap, less than $150, and it's very comfy!

We had a sleep number bed for many years. It was great at first. We both began to have aches and pains that we didn't have before. I ended up putting something under the mattress topper to make it harder. I had it set at 100 and that still didn't matter. The real kicker was when we went to move the bed - we took it all apart and it had mold growing on the air mattress. I called the company. They were kind enough to send us new air matteress and the foam parts. They also told us that you had to take the bed apart once every few weeks and let it air out. Yeah like that was going to happen. So we dumped the mattress that we paid a lot of money for and bought a Temperpedic. We have never looked back. I would never recommend a sleep number bed. The mold alone was unhealthy much less our aches and pains.
The Temperpedic is going into the RV this weekend. We have sold the house and will be full timing by May 26, 2016. Yes the Temperpedic was expensive but well worth the money. The sleep number bed was expensive too. Hope that helps.

Gwen, is your Temperpedic a standard king size (76X80) or an RV king (70X80)? Unfortunately the 5er we are purchasing cannot fit our memory foam king (76X80) so I'm going to have to find a memory foam that is a RV king that the wife likes. She loves our existing foam and is somewhat upset we have to give it to live fulltime in our new "home".

Reason to Buy iKrema Mattress over Leading Brands
The quality of your sleep is directly related to the type of mattress that you own. If it looks saggy and feels lumpy, you won't wake up fresh and well-rested. If you ever experienced the same thing before, then you have a pretty good idea of how the rest of your day will go. It can get pretty ugly.
But why make yourself suffer, when you can just chuck out your old mattress and buy a new one? To ensure you don't end up with the same low-quality product, which won’t last long, you should choose iKrema. It has a distinct advantage over other brands, such as Tuff and Needle, Leesa, and Casper.
Why iKrema Is the Best Choice
1. High quality construction
The iKrema mattress is made up of three layers, with each one performing a specific function. Yes, they’re not just there to add volume and height to a mattress, but to contribute to its overall quality. The top cover is an allergy-free elastic fabric that creates a cooling effect, allows for better air circulation, and maximizes the function of all three layers.
The top layer, on the other hand, is designed to mold to the contours of your body and allow heat to pass through, effectively avoiding build-up between the mattress and your body. This is made possible by the CoolFlow Technology, which is far more advanced than the ThermalGel technology that other brands used. As far as memory foam mattress goes, iKrema does a better job.
It is designed to increase a mattress’ cooling capacity using a new generation of viscoelastic foam. This not only creates a breathable and odor-free foam, but also a product that is durable, has variable support factor and broad temperature performance range, enhances thermal conductivity, and provides compression distribution and durability. It is the technology responsible for keeping any part of your body that touches the mattress sweat-free.
The middle or transition layer was added to make the mattress bouncy, while supporting and distributing your body weight throughout the mattress. Combined with CoolFlow Technology, iKrema is bouncy enough, but not too much.
The bottom layer, which consists of the main supporting foam and the base, supports the middle layer.
2. Variable support factor
Thanks to iKrema’s CoolFlow Technology, it can be considered a smart memory foam mattress. Its ThermaGelTM molds and supports various part of the body, according to pressure and comfort requirements. Whether you want to experience comforting softness or intense firmness the moment you lie down, this mattress in a box will cater to your individual needs.
3. 100% safe
The iKrema mattress is encased with FR Sock, a non-toxic fire retardant cover that keeps it from catching fire. Where durability and longevity are concerned, this product has them covered. Everything else can burn, but iKrema will prevail.
4. Maximum efficiency
Does it sound like 3 layers is insufficient for a mattress? If you would rather choose other leading brands because they have four layers or more, you are making a big mistake. You see, any layer added to the third one is practically useless. It won’t add or increase comfort, only height. You won’t feel the added layer, either. This is certainly not a case of the Princess and the Pea. What the iKrema mattress offers is 3 layers of exceptional comfort and quality. What more could be better than that?
So how about you reward yourself with an iKrema today?

We've been trying out some of the online mattress companies that have sprung up offering 100-day no question asked trials. It's been fun trying out a variety of mattresses that claim to be 'high end' for much less than typical mattress pricing.
They deliver them in a box to wherever you're at, and if you don't like it after 30-days they'll arrange to have it picked up wherever you're at (most try to get them into charities) and refund your money. It's a lot easier they dealing with mattress stores as an RVer, and we truly get to test out the mattress before committing long term.
We're on our third since the beginning of the year. So far, we've tried Leesa, Purple and just got in a Helix (who custom makes the mattress to your body type). All have been under a grand for a standard Queen size.
There's review sites out there who offer various feedback on them, which is how we've been narrowing down the ones we want to try.
So, just another option to consider.
