Well, if you read my last post about the tank vent noise, you already know that at about 2:15 AM this morning Dave discovered we were flooded.
Not black tank waste/water, clear water. The toilet overflowed.
Envision your toilet running all night and finally overflowing. Same result here.
We borrowed a Wet-Vac, have filed an insurance claim and are yet again awaiting a return call from Keystone about what next. I have emailed them the list of current known issues with this rig.
I must say that my voicemail to Bob Martin triggered the phone call. It was not him, of course, but they said he had told them to call.
No, the flush was not turned on. There was no water that we know of going into the tank. Again, it was not tank water but toilet bowl.
We had never turned on our water pump. Currently have FHU.
It was "raining" in the basement due to the flooding of the bathroom. Dave got everything out and dried it all.
If Keystone will not replace our carpet, we probably will not have them do any work on the rig. To have work done we have to spend fuel, lodging, food, etc. and we just paid for another week here at the RV park.
Dave said maybe we need to look at trading this in. I asked, "Then what?" Sell it, get the money and then get jobs again, probably in self-storage (my soul will die)? Or trade in for a different brand rig?
I don't know what to do at this point. I have never had problems with cars (new or used that I bought by myself) or anything. We have not even gone that many miles and only 4 months on the road.
We had minimal issues with a Fleetwood popup and NO issues whatsoever with our Fleetwood Mallard bumper pull, and it probably had more miles on it than our Montana currently.
Are these things that will pass? Do we have a truly faulty unit? We have spent money because of the issues with this rig and possibly looking at more out-of-pocket due to this new issue. Yes, we can pay it, etc. etc. But it is having so many problems right from the get.
Somebody either cheer me up, kick me in the pants, hand me a hankie or sumpthin! If you knew me, you'd know I'm a warrior but I'm sure feelin' pretty worn down right now.
I probably need a nap.
Anyone for lemonade?

Betty, I have been following a bit of your ADVENTURE, it seems to me you have just had a bad run of luck, as i am sure you have heard before problems are just part of the deal. I admit you have had many, but I can't help but to think that you are so close to having things worked out and to jump ship now will make all of your struggles seem like a waste of time and money, additionally what is the gaurantee that another Rig would not give you similar troubles.....my vote is for a good night sleep, followed by a list of all the things that have not gone wrong with the Rig, then another list of the good moments you have had over the last 4months. Breath, make your calls, get it done......G

Fully document every single problem you've had with the rig with both written word and photos if able. Copy any documents from service calls you've had. Burn these onto a CD and send it to the company via registered mail (preferably to the owner).
Then, once receipt has been acknowledged, start calling and don't give up until everything is fixed to YOUR satisfaction.
Your experience has turned me off on the Montana Brand. I liked a few that I have seen but between you and Phyllen, the customer service seems lacking.
Time to dig deeper into my research. Good luck in getting everything worked out so you can enjoy the life you desire.

I would suspect there is a check valve malfunctioning somewhere in the plumbing that is letting the water push past the supply valve to the toilet causing it to fill when dump valve is closed. No real knowledge on this just throwing it out there. I think I would park that unit so it would block entrance to the dealer, then put a lock on the king pin so it would be hard to move. You have been far more tolerant than I could be .I admire your ability to take a lickin and keep on ticken.

Keystone / Thor can be very difficult to deal with from reading other peoples problems elsewhere. You need to hound them to get things fixed at least again from reading about other problems people have had.
Truely they need to make this right, either fix it or swap it this is way past the relm of normal "burn in" issues.

Betty, Take a deep breath and focus on something positive!
I do agree with documenting everything and letting Keystone know no only that you want repairs, but also are voicing your grief with their product over the internet. I can't imagine Keystone not helping when you are venting on the forums and this will make an impact on other people in their desicions to buy a Keystone product. If I was a newcomer reading all the bad things, I certainly would not buy a Keystone RV of any kind. But on the flip side, we have been very satisfied, so far, with our Montana. I know that isn't much for encouragement, but I really don't know what else to offer. Eveyone else has given good suggestions.

Like others have said it sounds like the hum you heard was water pushing past a valve somewhere which allowed the tank to overfill.
Sorry for the troubles, I know how frustrating it can be.
With RV's it seem you can go for years without problems and then you'll have a period of nothing but trouble and then when all of that is fixed, you're fine for many more years.
With water systems and traveling you run into all kinds of crud in the water. Depending on the water quality that you run into, even with a really great filter you can have calcium or lime build up that will eventually clog parts in the water system.
One RV resort we stayed at for a week, the water would foam up, just like it had soap in it. When our dogs refused to drink it, we started using the water in our freshwater tank instead of the parks water.
Our first RV had no problems at all when it was new. Our most recent, was back to the factory 8 times to have stuff fixed. A bunch of minor stuff, but inconvenient.

Were you hooked up to the water at your site? Or were disconnected? If you connected to site water and there was a problem with a connection.....you would leak even with your rv pump on. Maybe???? Seems I had read recently about someone else having that problem.

our valve failed on our Dometic toilet. The valve would let the water continue at a trikle into the bowl and would overflow in a very short time. We were lucky and discovered the problem before a major flood. Sounds like this may be your problem as well?
I purchased a new valve at an RV delaer and changed it myself, took about 10 minutes and just a couple of hand tools.
Frustrating, yep, but the valve was not too expensive and I have the satisfaction that I fixed it myself .
I would not only call Keystone but also the manufacturer of the toilet as well since Keystone buys them as a complete unit. Most likely it is a Sealand made by Dometic. Hopefully either or both will step up and do the right thing for you.
