We are Class C newbees and just rounded up glassware, dishes, etc. Then the light goes on !

How does all this stuff stay secure in the cabinets ?? Can't have those wine glasses careening around in the cabinet, can we?

We tend to use less breakable dishes in the RV, but for the things that are breakable, you can cut pieces from those foam swim noodles and put that between the breakable items. You can also use the non-skid shelf liner between plates to eliminate any rattling noise they make.

I have also noticed that if you nest/stack a fair amount, it can cause more sliding because of different sizes, material and balance. I found cutting a couple extra sheets of the no-slide shelf liner and throwing it between the sliding items in the stack, it resolved this, and like they said above, the shelf liners on the shelves themselves as well. Camping World also has these spring loaded cabinet bars to help keep things held back. They're basically really short, spring curtain rods, with heavier duty rubber ends, so if you can find short enough ones at a hardware or walmart type store, they would probably be cheaper and work as well. Unfortunately the stores around here don't have any short enough for my cabinets, by about 2", lol. Good luck

OH I HAVE to have my wine in glass wineglasses!  

I guess I'm lucky,I can't even stand the smell of wine so no need for wine glasses. We also use the rubber shelf liner stuff for our few breakables.

My advice---ditch the glass, you can buy clear lexan wine glasses that you can't break with a hammer.  Lots of colorful dinner ware also comes in plastic. I guess it's personal preference but  save some time and trouble get plastic or corell (sp) ware.

Oh! I like the basket idea! We travel with the lexan glasses -- bought the high quality stuff and it's okay. But we have lots of tall glasses so they all fall over when we travel. I'm thinking a basket that fits in the cabinet will solve that problem. As I'm clearing out the house a few glass drink glasses might make the cut to add to the rv. In which case we will be all set! Thanks!

I was debating a custom, roll out shelf for glasses with insets like the wood dish racks or a dishwasher or maybe styled like the dividers used in boxes to package glasses or bottles. Decided to go to plastic for now since the after summer clearance made it much cheaper than the build (for which I'd need to buy a new saw, lol).

We have box from a case of wine (yes we like wine) and it has dividers in it. Since we have a wine rack that they are hanging from when we are parked I just put them in the box for travel and they travel in the truck. I like my wine in glass too. I do have some nice plastic ones we bring out for extras if we have company.

These are all great ideas. I especially like JanieD's suggestion. Makes for a good reason to buy the good wine in bulk and then put the case to use. Going Live in 2012 Jerry/Carol www.waggintails.blogspot.com
