The book I mentioned is not really an atlas. It is a directory and description of mountain passes. Actually, there are two of them.
These guides let us know about mountain passes and grade percentages so that we know what to expect and what to avoid.

I'm pretty sure Howard uses the Motor Carriers Road Atlas from Rand McNally that we use.You can find them at just about any truck stop for around $ 20.00. On edit I see Howard posted right before me.The two he mentioned we have also.The one I mentioned tells you big rig friendly Highways and secondary roads.
