I don't know how much RV "neighbors" will do this for each other, or if they could be counted on to remember to take care of your dog. I'm still in my sticks n bricks, and I have a pet sitting business. You could certainly hire a professional pet sitter on occasion & it wouldn't be very expensive. Here's a website to locate sitters: www.petsit.com.  You type in the zip code of your location & sitters who cover that area will be displayed.  People who are registered on that site are usually pet sitters who pet sit for a living, not just as a hobby.  You can expect that they are bonded & insured, although I would always verify that.  You could also call local veterinarians offices or grooming shops for a referral, as they often know who the good sitters are in the area.  I think this would be a much more reliable way to ensure that your pet is properly cared for, and that the person who you're allowing in your RV is experienced & professional.  Of course, since I have a pet sitting business, I'm biased in favor of sitters!

We have done this several times for friends we have made during our travels. We have taken there dogs out periodically when they were gone for extended periods and they have done the same for us.

But you make a good point Cindy T. I think for longer trips (say weekends), we would definitely go with the pros.

I think if we were in a park for a long time and got to know the others there that we would not mind dog sitting.  we love animalsand will have a dog of our own. 

We have in fact done this, both helping friends out and them watching our dogs. One thing I would recommend-we made great friends (another nurse I worked with lived in our park), and after they left we thought what a great idea it would have been to give them a spare key so that we could call if we got delayed so that they could let them out (one day we got detained and they were left for about 8 hours inside, which made me feel terrible. But no accidents, thank goodness. Good doggies!!). It would have been great to give them a call so they could have let them out for awhile. It was a unique situation with people we really trusted, but if another such situation comes up we would certainly consider it.
