Right now ... I have at least two offers to me (from dealers, of course) for a new 2010 SD F350 4X2 Crew Cab Lariat 156" (short bed) WB styleside diesel.
As options, one has a Lariat Ultimate Package and the bottom line is $45,195. The other has a Lariat Plus Package with a bottom line of $43,269.
Between the two quotes, I'm going to lose a moonroof (the majority of the cost in the Ultimate Package option ... plus a few hundred dollars in roof clearance lights, traction control, upfilter switches, and dual alternators).
However ... and here's the question ... I have another option ...
Instead of going new, I can get a 2008 SSD F350 4X4 Crew Cab Lariat 156" (short bed) WB styleside diesel with 89,514 on the clock with all of the details I want ... plus the Moonroof ... for $32,990.
Which is the better deal? The 2008 has no waranties but is obviously usable? Or, the 2010 that comes with the 30,000 mile warranties?
My main worry is the 89,514 mileage on the 2008 vehicle (purchased in 2007). Otherwise, it looks (and drives) good.

At 89K a diesel engine is just getting broken in.

I agree that 89,000 miles not a lot on a diesel. However, I'm not sure I like what you have been quoted as a price.
When Jo and I bought our 2008 Ford F450 last October, the asking price on it was $35,000. I really suggest that you do a little more looking around at prices, even if it is only online. If a different dealer has a good used one, you won't take that depreciation hickey so bad.
If you are planning on full-timing, I'm not too hot on short beds. One, you lose cargo space for some needed items, and two, you may have to go to a "sliding" fifth wheel. I'm not sure how well that type of fifth wheel works out in the long run.
As for moonroofs, last I heard they don't pull much. While the only vehicle I have had that has one is the current Explorer that we have, I can't speak to whether they might turn out to be a source of water leaks. That would be my one concern with any kind of option being cut into the roof.
At any rate, have fun with the looking.

While we're not fulltiming yet, we did just make a 4K mile trip pulling the 5th wheel....
For our 2 cents we'd go used on the diesel. When we bought ours it had 112K miles on it. Just get it checked out by a really good mechanic before signing the deal. Also I'd be looking for at least a standard bed and a better price.
Finally, unless I needed to purchase a vehicle now, I'd wait till I found the trailer I'm pulling and then get a truck that I knew would do the job. What you're looking at should pull most things, but better to wait than fall in love with the home of your dreams and feel you can't get it because the truck won't stand up to it. Just my opinion.

Regardless of what you buy, if you can get it for less by not getting the moonroof, then that is your choice. Had them in cars before and the novelty wears off after the first week. Other things that I never get on a vehicle is leather package, especially on a truck. For one, if you are going to be using it as a work vehicle the leather will take a beating and look like it did. The other option is to put seat covers on them for protection and that defeats the purpose of the look of the leather. I place seat covers on all my vehicles anyways which is another reason why I don't spend a couple of thousand dollars extra on the leather. IMHO

When we shopped for a vehicle last year we went to a lot of dealers in our area who were all about the same high price. We finally found a dealer that had an 'internet sales only' person who was several thousand dollars below the other sales people.
I was in contact with her over a three week period and true to her word, we got the new car at a lower price. Maybe one of the dealers have something like that in your area?
I am with Fred, your prices seem a little high but good luck on what ever you decide to do!

I would echo the "find the trailer first", and then find a truck to fit...I did my searching on EBAY and Craigslist...now before you question that check out the prices of trucks in your area and as far out as your willing to travel...we found a great deal on a 2008 F450 but needed to travel a bit to get it and take some risk. Just don't believe Dealers without back checking the private sales. In most cases you will fing a much better vehicle with a lot less miles. Let me know how it goes...Good Luck
