We eventually got rid of all our chairs because we never used them, but we never had any problems with then falling or moving for the 2 years that we traveled with them.

We had a 2002 Cedar creek with dining chairs - we bungeed two together, never had an issue. We now have a 2009 Montana. Do not bungee them, no problem.
We do use our table and chairs everyday as we eat meals at the table. Chairs are also used if we have more than 4 people in the unit. In fact, this rig came with 5 chairs- one for the computer station.

We did the same thing in our motor home. We went with two regular chairs and two ladder back folding chairs that we keep under the bed compartment for guests. I would recommend using a bungee cord to strap them together. We did not at first and one fell and dented our fridge.

We had four chairs and only once in awhile would one tip over or move. One would tip back onto the arm of the sofa after the occaisional panic stop. The table never moved.
We now have a desk/table and two chairs combination setup. Nothing moves.

We have two upholstered chairs at our dinette and of course the table and desk/credenza in our Dutch Star. We have never bungeed the chairs and the table is not strapped down. We have never had a problem. We put a door stopper under the table pedestal and it stays put. The chairs are fairly heavy but absolutely no problems. In our first MH (Endeavor) we did velcro the legs of the chairs to the legs of the table. The chairs were a bit lighter though.
