I know I asked this question some time back concerning extended cabs on tow vehicles but, being lazy, I didn't take the time to search for it. It was an input to someone else's thread. I remember my original question was why the extra cab space..was it for the extra wheel base or for the convenience to carry daily items close at hand. Well, the DW and I bought a new to us pick up last Friday. It is a GMC Quad cab dually. Our previous truck was a standard cab Chevy. We took the truck out to the coast (Oregon) this past weekend and what a difference in the ride. That extra 3 feet + makes a world of difference. The other big difference was the standard cab weighed in at 6100# with an in bed tool box and this new one tipped the scales at 7300# without the tool box. I don't believe this will be our final truck, but the ride is sure nice. Oh..it's a 2000 with the 454EFI. Better power and better gas mileage than the TBI on the old truck.

Welcome to the world of long trucks.....it's amazing what a few feet do to improve the ride.
It also comes in handy on rainey days when you have a lot of groceries to carry. Now they won't have to ride in the bed and get wet.
