I would like to cut 2x6 boards for leveling blocks for a dual axle RV, should one block be long enough to fit under two tires or is it better to use separate blocks for each tire? I will cut a 45 degree angle on one end. Length of the blocks?
Thanks, CCC

I found the leveling wedges from Snapsmfg.com to answer your question. You are not limited to the thickness of your boards, just to how far you back up on the wedges. I have found the two sets I have to be adequate for most parking.

Hey Charles,
I measured distance between the tires at the ground. Cut your blocks an inch or so shorter and make two sets, and additional sorter ones if you need more height. I carry some 1/2" plywood also, in case you only need a little rise..

PS- Cut your angle after you cut to length...

Sorry. I looked at the box the wedges came in and got the address. Lemme do some more looking. 4914 Industrial Ave. E., Ste. A, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83815
I can't find anything on the web any more. I met the guy at a Sunnybrook Rally in Goshen where he was vending snap pins and wedges. Dang, I hope they ain't closed up. They had good products. I think Camping World still has the landing gear pins. I know a friend bought a Cougar that came equipped with the pins. I found this, and looking at the photo, still has Snaps MFG on the item. So, I dunno? http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/product/snaps-lite/7616

We the yellow plastic blocks that come 12 to a package. You can get them at Camping World or most RV supply houses. They are 1 inch thick, interlock and are very strong. We've been using them for years.

Somewhat relevant to this question, on the low side is it best to block under both axles or just one or the other? I have leveled mine side to side before just blocking under one axle but now wonder if I may be possibly putting undue stress on my frame.

We always run up under both wheels. It's easy enough with the square blocks. If we need multiples we go back and forth in steps. We've been as high as 4 once.

We have migrated from using 2x6's to using the yellow blocks. I am a huge fan of the yellow blocks for two reasons. One they are light weight and two they are easy to use. I always block both axles if I put more than one block under the tires. Happy Camping.

We have a blow up pillow.. to level our 5th wheel.. I think it is much more stable than the blocks... and for me much easier to back up on too.. since it lays flat on the round and you blow it up after you back up on it... patti

We have used the blocks and the boards and find them both to work well. The blocks are so much easier to store and my wife can put them down much better than a heavy board. This leaves me free to stay behind the wheel while she does her thing.

I like the idea of the pillows. Gonna have to check those out.

Once you are on the blocks, do you chock the tires on both sides, or is one side sufficient? I have one of contraptions that expands between the tires to lock them. Wonder if I need one for both sides. Thanks.

I usually put a block in front of the tires on one side and in back on the other side. Helps secure the rig that way.

The Pillo looks and sounds great, but what about bounce in the RV?
It would seem to me the RV bounce would be worse.

No bounce.. I feel we have less bounce than with the yellow blocks.. We used it last weekend and I stood in the 5th and jumped up and down.. no bounce...patti
I will cut a 45 degree angle on one end.
Length of the blocks?
Thanks,
