What do any of you full-timers, who like to fish, do about fishing licenses. Surely you can't budget one for every state you travel to. I know in some states, you can fish on private property without a license, but that would rule out some really great fishing. Just curious what every body does, as both of us like to fish, and hope to do more after we're full-timers.

It varies from state to state but some have 1, 3 and 7 day fishing licenses for tourists. If you are not planning on going back to that state any time soon that would be your best bet although some can be pricey for the amount of days you are getting.

Fishing becomes an expensive hobby as you go state to state. They all require licenses, some 2 for fresh and salt water, and invariably are more expensive for non residents than residents. Most have short term permits, but are still not cheap.

Sure wish they would start a national fishing license, similar to the Golden Age Passport..... acceptable in all states. In Wisconsin you have to buy separate *stamps* on top of the regular fishing license if you want to catch trout or salmon, and then special *stamps* if you want to fish inland on lakes and rivers, or else along the tributaries to the Great Lakes that border around Wisconsin. They get ya in all directions here! But they do give ya couple bucks off if you buy a husband/wife combo license. Big whoop.

Passport America is working toward a national fishing license but they need our help. All seniors who enjoy fishing should go to WWW.passport-america.com, print off the petition sign it and mail it to your respective Senator and Congressman. The only way we will get action is through action. Pass the word to others in our community.
