I don't have a 5 wheel so I carry firewood, in bed tool box with a ton of stuff, bikes, generator(Yamaha3000 or Honda 2000), small refrigerator for drinks etc. when I have access to full hook-ups, portable (blue) dump container, small ladder, blocks to level TT, etc.

Terry, as a caution, be careful of what you attempt (note attempt) to carry in the bed of a truck with a 5th wheel.  It better be heavy or well secured.  Almost anything can be sucked right out.  I carry an "X Pen" which is a wire cage that fold flat.  Along with a couple of 12 inch long 2X12 boards for the landing gear is about all.  I find that the longer we travel, the less I have to haul in the pickup.  We put what we need in the 5th wheel, both inside and in the basement storage. 
As stated before, we have a 36 gallon transfer tank for diesel, the hitch and not much else in the bed.  Of course, we have a short bed pickup, so space is somewhat limited.
Howard and Linda have a zip up cover with an opening for the hitch plate, so they carry other items in the bed.  I have another friend with a roll-up cover, and he clamps it in a partial open position for towing, with some items under the cover. 
Really based on your needs and desires, so load or unload and have fun.

Not sure why you need extra propane. When its below freezing I only use one every 3 days. 2 in the trailer gives you 6 days when the furnace runs constantly. Seems like a bunch of extra weight for no good reason...not hard to find places to get propane once a week. With good weather you can go for a month. The ladder in the truck is a good idea. On my DRV the ladder screws are tiny...no way I'd add weight to that. My ladder goes in the basement.(7')

I'm 225 lbs and go up and down my ladder on my Creek all the time. I bungee an 8 foot aluminum step ladder to mine to carry.I put a cheap patio box from wal-mart in the back of my truck and carry my Yamaha generator,spare water hoses and misc items.We also carry my Wife's 3 wheel electric scooter between the box and the hitch. Terry, in some states it's illegal to carry propane bottles in back of a truck without special DOT rated brackets.

We keep 3 large lidded plastic boxes in the rear - one is winter clothes, one is the air compressor and misc cleaning supplies and the third is misc tools and an extra blanket. Along one side we keep the bird feeders, walking sticks, jack stands, brushes and brooms and the tripod hitch. In front of the hitch we keep the folding ladder, and there's space for the BBQ propane tank when we travel along with the wheel chocks and stacking blocks. When we are not towing, it's all covered by a roll up bed cover. We really store a lot of stuff back there.

Fred What brand of roll up bed cover do you have? We will be heading for Tennessee in 2 weeks to pick up the new Cameo and have a bunch of stuff to take, including 4 large lidded plastic Sterlite boxes and a X Cargo turtle top lashed to the bed with our clothes and blankets etc. Also a small gennie for backup power. Need to hide them from thiefs and the elements I think. Pat

Terry, I have a MDT so weight is not an issue to me on the truck like it is on the trailer. I carry 2- Honda 2000, a 3gal air compressor, many power and hand tools, my sea eagle kayak, lifejackets and paddles, 2x10 leveling boards, wheel chocks and pad boards, a Gorilla adjustable alluminum ladder, and power cords, surge protector,and many miscellanous items. I agree with Robert. I don't know why you would need 2 extra lp tanks. I have 2 -30 gal. tanks on the trailer. When one is empty I leave the other on in operation while I fill up the empty, works good.
I have 2 - 75 gal fuel tanks built  onto the truck.

Been very happy with it for 4 years now. If I remember correctly it was about $300 and I had no problem installing it myself. It's aged well, even though I hardly ever put any dressing on it.

Cross bed toolbox with tools to do most maintenance and repair work. Also in the box, 2 Honda 2000 Generators, plastic tarp, rope,chain, clamps, metal detector, bottle jack, rags, polishing supplies, hand cleaner, Multi-meter, OBD II analyzer, shammie....and miscellaneous parts (nuts, bolts, screws, etc). In the bed I carry a ladder, 1lb propane tank for BBQ grill, kingpin tripod, wheel chocks, lumber for blocks, firewood, extra food and drinks (to go in basement when it's empty of the campsite stuff), wooden step, extra chairs and table for campsite.

We have a long bed dually. We carry a large plastic storage bin lengthwise in the bed behind the king pin that is accessible with the flip top lid from the driver's side. In the bin is some rarely used items and a hydraulic jack. On the passenger side behind the king pin I carry two 5 gallon containers of diesel, our Sea Eagle Kayak and our 18 gallon Gray Tote. I also carry the tripod for the satellite dish and wheel chocks and boards. We have a snap top tonneau cover which is less than ideal and must be rolled up on travel days.

4X4given, I never considered that two Harleys would fit side by side in a P/U bed. That's great. Must be fun trying to get the second one in.

We're in a Class A, but be aware that carrying firewood is a big "No-No" in some areas....signs posted all over the place.  Some local governments are worried about RVers carrying bad bugs into their area.  We've stayed in campgrounds where the only wood allowed is what you purchase from the camground.                  Also, be wise when traveling with a load of stuff in your pick-up.  Canadian friends of ours had their loaded pick-up cleaned out while they were eating a quick lunch in a busy Arizona restaurant at noon on a bright sunny day just 90 minutes from their winter destination.  Thieves got GPS, computer, cameras, tools, golf clubs, meds, passports and important papers, credit cards, etc. and all the dirtly laundry.  They've had a fun winter replacing things!
