Wasn't sure which area to post this in. When you are full time on the road where do you get your prescriptions from? (the ones you take regularly) I know Walgreens pharmacies keep scripts on a nation widw data base does Wal-Mart do the same?

We used to use Walgreen when we had a S/B, but switched to Walmart, because they are national and in every small town. Also they have the generic program and in general their prices seem cheaper. Walgreen doesn't seem to have as wide a coverage.

We try to keep a month or two ahead on our refills....use mail order/insurance for some and Walmart for those that are cheaper. Walmart will call your doctor for refills if necessary. The problem for us sems to be knowing where we will be and staying there long enough to get the packages mailed or refills done if phone calls need to be made to a doctor's office that doesn't respond quickly. One time recently our DR office refused to respond and give an okay to an out of state Walmart so WE had to call the DR and tell his office to call in the refill to a local Walmart...then Walmart transferred it. It just takes a little persistence and planning to keep up with the meds....but it's worth it!!!

We also use WalMart. We used to use Costco before going fulltime, but switched to WalMart because there are many more of them across the country. We have had no problem with WM in the 1 1/2 years of fulltime life. They transfer our prescriptions from location to location as we move about the country. We get monthly refills for 5 prescriptions as our insurance will not allow more than a one-month supply at a time.

We get three months at a time mail order through Medco, which seems to work fine for us. When we need short term stuff like antibiotics we go to Wal-Mart or Target since both have $4 prescriptions.

We use Wal-Mart. My meds are in the "system" and I have had NO problem. Wal-Mart is everywhere.

I use Caremark mail order through my insurance company. Not only can you get a 90 day supply but they also supply my very expensive Chemo drugs at a very reasonable price.

Thanks for all the info. It sounds like if I g to Wal mart once it is in the system I should be able to get it. I only have one but have to take it everyday. May check out the mail order thing too. Thanks everyone.

Were any of these perscriptions you folks get from Wal-mart controlled ? I've had a nightmare, and never was able to get mine filled at any store except for original, with a one time transfer to another store. I just changed to Walgreen yesterday, and they guaranteed me I will be able to pick it up at any of their stores.

We order most of our maintenance meds thru our insurance company - 90 days at a time. DH also gets some of his mail ordered thru the VA. He has one med that he gets from the VA that they will only send 30 days at a time. So guess that one is going to be fun keeping stocked. If we need something local, we use WM.
When we go fulltime, DH will also have blood work that he will have to get done at least once per month. We understand that Lab Corp will do these for us with a doctor's order. They will take the blood, run the test and fax the results back to our local doctor who will continue to monitor the results. The tricky part here is going to be that occassionaly the results aren't good and he has to have a test in between. I guess that's when we'll find a fax machine somewhere.
We're not anticipating any serious problems with our meds, etc. Just hope we're right.

We use Medco also but not on the road yet. Not expecting any problems here.

I take one controlled drug but it is mail ordered thru Medco. So, don't anticipate a problem. And, I will continue to have it prescribed by my local doctor here after we're on the road.

Judy, Thanks for your response. Hopefully Walgreen's will work out for me. I hate to leave Wal-Mart, but it's too frustrating when it shouldn't be.
Best of Luck,
