Wow...lots of great info here. This has been one of my dilemas since my cat doesn't travel well at all. I keep her sandbox in the garage and then the door into the kitchen is kept ajar. When I come home from work as soon as she hears the garage door opener she's headed out. She doesn't go anywhere, just lays on the front porch watching people walking etc...never leaves the yard. She was a very young stray when she moved in and I suspect she isn't big on being homeless again. But she HATES the car or at least riding in it...so much so in fact, that when I'm going to leave and don't want her out when I'm gone and don't want to have to worry about her slipping by me in the gargage unseen...all I have to do is jingle my keys and she makes a beeline for upstairs...that's how much she hates it. Yet, if I pull in and don't get out right away...she jumps on the hood and makes her way to my window and just stares until I lower it. The she comes in and wanders around and seems to enjoy it and sometimes I even have a hard time getting her out so I can close it.

My grand plan is once I purchase my rig, I'll park it in the drive and just let her expore it for a couple days. Then as someone else mentioned on here I'll start introducing her to very short trips...gradually extending them. I'm also hoping she'll adjust to the smaller size. Now she has 3500 ft to wander through and while I only use about 3 rooms...she uses all of them. On the other hand I think she'll be happier with me there all the time. When I'm home, she has to be in the same room as me and heads up to bed with me and once I'm asleep she spends the night on the foot of the bed.

I'm hoping on hope, after she gets used to it, she'll just curl up on the bed or in a chair and sleep. When it's not moving I don't think it'll be a problem...she'll just do the same thing she does now...lay where she can watch out the window. Never thought about the bottled water though...never even heard of it. I'm going to give that a try now.

Have you tried using Feliway?  It is a diffuser that contains the synthetic version of natural cat phermones.  You plug it into a wall outlet, it diffuses the phermone into the air & can help the cat feel more calm & comfortable.  It might help your kitty feel good in the RV if you plugged it in there.  You can read about it here: http://www.feliway.com/us

We put our cat in a travel crate when we move and that seems to help calm them. After all this time we just leave the door open and she comes out when she wants, but mostly stays inside and sleeps. We also put food and a litter box in the truck for her.

They may not like traveling at first, but they all get used to it.
