In January we are planning to embark on a 6 month trip in our fifth wheel. We were wondering what options are out there for having our mail forwarded to us. There are a few stops where we plan to be in the same place for a week or two at a time, but for the most part, we will be moving every 2 to 5 days. We're hoping some of your more experienced full timers can offer some advice for what has worked well for you.

We are fulltimers and Escapees and we use their mail service. We are very happy with them and used them because everyone that has used them that we have talked with have been well pleased with their service. We have our mail forwarded to us every 2-3 weeks. Some people do it more often and some go much longer. We find an area that we are sure we will be in about a week ahead of time and look for a small town with one post office. We call the post office to make sure they will take general delivery and let them know we will be there at a certain date and please hold our mail for us. We then call or email Escapees and tell them to send our mail at a time 5-6 days ahead of the date we will be arriving. We have also used a campground that we make a reservation at but ask the campground if they will accept and hold the mail for us, some will not. We have not had a problem so far. If you are visiting friends or relatives along the way, that would be an even better option.

Hi, we have been full timing for 3 years now and have used Alternative Resources, in Sioux Falls South Dakota since day one. We researched, just like you are doing, in rv forms. We chose them because we had already decided that we wanted our domicile domain to be in South Dakota. This is something else you need to research. There are several states that are "full timer friendly", but you have to decide which one is the best for you.
Check out these other forums also, IRV2.com, and ofcourse, RV.Net. There is alot of information on this topic. Good luck! Dave

We stayed Wisconsin residents, but also use Escapees in Texas for our mail forwarding and credit card address. Very reliable and inexpensive. I think it's less than $100 a year plus postage. We get it all stuffed in a Priority Mail flat rate box for $8.50 I think.
The amount of mail diminishes greatly. We do all banking and credit cards online without papers statements and keep in contact with family and friends via email, so the bulk of the mail is magazines. We review the mail when we want is forwarded and weed out the junk which they dispose of for us. We call about every month or so and get the mail usually within 2-3 days anywhere in the country.
Works smooth as grease.
