OK  We went out on  a 4 day camping trip this weekend.. and I used our shower for the first time... I usually use the campground showers...but I was lazy. Now we have had our 5th wheel about 5 months and it is 9 years old... When I took the shower the tub filled up so I tried pulling up on the silver plug it did not move so I tries turning it and it turns and turns but seems to go no where... The water slowly drained out of the tub but it left all of soap residue in the tub...when I tried washing out the tub it just filled up again and slowly drained out in 15 minutes...Is there something I am suppose to be doing with the silver plug that I don't know about.. I tried pushing down on it to see if it would pop up like in the hotel showers no luck with that either...
YUK is all I can say.. I will be using the camp showers from now on if I can't figure out how to get the water to drain faster...patti

Try pushing down on the silver plug. It sould pop up a little and open the drain. Then to close the drain back up, you push down on it again.

Patti, Most RV shower drains have a little round flat piece of metal with holes in it. This is the screen. It snaps into the drain ring and can be pried loose using a screwdriver. Look around the outside of the screen you should see two u-shaped holes, these are pry holes. Stick the screwdriver in one and push down gently on the handle of the screwdriver. The screen should pop loose. You may need to try each hole to get the screen loose. If it does pop out, look down into the drain and you will see metal or plastic cross bars, usually there will be lots of hair stuck to these cross bars. I use my finger nail to loosen the hair along each of the cross bars, and then try to pull the hair out with my finger tips or a long pair of tweezers. Tie a string to the tweezers just in case you drop them into the drain. Once you get the hair out, the water should drain really fast. Run water for a few minutes to make sure the drain is clear. If you can't get the little silver screen insert to pop out. Try using a plunger to breakup whatever is clogging the shower drain. First take a stiff wire (coat hanger) and poke it through the screen and down in the drain about 3 inches. Poke around in each of the creen holes. This will open holes in any clogged hair in the drain. First run water until there is water backed up into the shower pan. Use the plunger over the drain and pump vigorously. Make sure you keep adding water so the plunger can push it to break the clog. Do this several times and run water to see if the clog is gone. If it's not try again using hot water. Once it's unclogged run hot water for about 5 minutes too make sure all the gunk clears out. There is a new device you can buy at the hardware or home stores. It's a 12" long thin piece of plastic with little spikes on it. You stick it down the drain, wiggle it around and then pull it back out and the hair or clogged stuff will be caught on the spikes.
