We were having problems with our water becoming "stinky". if we were gone and it didn't get flushed through frequently. We had a black hose because the white one was "a piece of crap" to quote my DH. Hot sun on a black hose was the problem. I finally talked him into getting a white hose from Walmart and in 2 days the screw on part separated from the hose. Fortunately someone was around to turn off the water. What kind of hose do you use? Brenda

Most RV dealers sell a white hose that's supposedly made specially for fresh water, but we've gotten by just fine with regular hoses we buy at WalMart. Never had a problem with either taste or smell.

We use the white hose recommend for fresh drinking water. Not a garden hose, I don't think they are for drinking water out of because of the material used in making them. Its sort of like the nonsafe plastic bottles that are not now safe to use. southwestjudy

While we don't do a lot with using city water, and thus the water hose, we also use the type of hose that is "rated" for RV'ing. In addition, after using the hose and before stowing it away in the basement, I connect the two ends of the hose together and tighten it.
That way, no insects or dirt or whatever can get in the hose while it is stored.
But, just to play it safe, I still run a little water through the hose before hooking it up to the camper.

We use a "white" hose from Camping World the ones from Walmart don't hold up to hard use we have found. We have had good luck with the "mid" grade hose from Camping World.
