I have a standard DirecTV box in my RV and would like to upgrade to a DVR.  My home DVR has two cables running to it from the dish on the roof, in my WB Journey, there is only on cable running from my roof mounted dome.

My question is will a DVR work?  I am guessing the home DVR twin cables are for the DVR to be able to record 2 channels at the same time.  With one cable, does that mean only one channel can be recorded?

Sounds right to me. At least that was how DirecTv explained it to me when I put the dish on the roof. If you only have one cable then you can only watch/record one channel. I wanted to use PIP (picture-in-picture) and that requires 2 cables as well. My slimline dish on the roof can handle 4 tv's, but Monaco only pre-wired the coach with 2 wires...one to the front TV and one to the rear TV.

We have a WB Journey 2002 with a KVH Tracvision LM roof mounted antenna. We just added a second cable from the antenna that enabled us to receive two channels to accommodate a Hughes directv DVR that works great. We also added two extra cables that hooks up in the bin under the driver seat to the overhead compartment to connect to the Hughes DVR VIA AB switches. This give us the option of a remote antenna, which we carry, in case the roof antenna is blocked by trees. I have pictures and more details if you are interested. Thanks for the reply.  I follow what you've said.  I have a King Dome and I don't know if it is capable of supporting an extra feed cable, I'll have to research it.

I carry a portable dish also, I like your idea of an "A-B" switch, it's a pain to have to unscrew the roof dish cable to hook up the portable dish.
