I would like to hear from some of you fellow Dreamers about the Sleep Number Bed. Mr Alfie and I both have back problems, and we are hoping the SNB will be the answer for us. Any comments.. pro or con, would be much appreciated..

I have a Sleep Number Bed & love it. I've had back surgery, & a regular innerspring mattress just doesn't work for me anymore. I really like being able to adjust the firmness/softness whenever I want, depending on how I'm feeling at the time.

Welcome to the forum.
Linda and I both really like our sleep number bed. We had one,(King Size), in our stix & brix house and bought a queen size for our MH when we went Full-timing. Have since moved it to our second MH. I've had back problems for years, and it really seems to help.
This is another option for an airbed. They are just like the sleep number beds, but considerably cheaper when we last checked. We have one of these in our sticks & bricks, and love it - plan on taking it with us in the RV!
The only difference we found was that you don't have a "number" to set your firmness level to, but you tend to develop a "feel" for where you like it, anyway.
Give these a look before you plop down the big bucks for a sleep number bed!

I was wondering if they were heated as I had one while living in an apartment and it was just to cold to sleep on? southwestjudy

Just have to remember to lower the air pressure before traveling thru the mountains...
Our coach came with the SNB...we don't have any back issues so can't address that aspect. I do like being able to adjust my side of the bed separately. One possible issue I can see arising is if there is a big difference in pressure between each side. The bed will tend to droop on the outside edge and the middle will have a depression.

Judy,
Most of the newer ones have a thick padded top on them so you don't feel the cold. At least we don't feel it on ours.

Jim...I would love to feel the cold about now. We are dying here from the heat. Bring on that cold bed.

We have had a Sleep Number bed for over seven years. Since both of our RVs have had real queen mattresses we were able to use a standard house model. We have a wireless remote control and pillow top and it does not get cold. Last year one of the two air bladders started leaking and the replacement cost us $37 with shipping with the 20 year warranty covering most of the cost.
We like it and appreciate having the numbers when we change elevation, when we are tired it is hard to judge the right stiffness.
Some friends had issues with the foam separator since they liked to cuddle up in the middle, so for them it did not work. They are happy using a memory foam topper, which is a $100 item.

The sleep number bed is the best bed we have ever had. We did get a warning to check it in high elevations because it will fill as you climb.

Everyone... thank you so much for taking time to send in your comments on the Sleep Number bed for us. We are in the process of putting the mattress in our rig now. I am happy to have a new bed.. hubby is happy that he will not have to put up with a grouchy ol' woman, deprived of sleep..
