Hi Guys haven' posted for awhile  but have been keeping up with all of your travels.
We are checking into RV parks in Seattle or surrounding area.. Love the cool weather and the rain.. Live in florida and sooo sick of the heat.
Any info. appreciated.. Plan on selling the house, (we hope within a year) no rv yet all new to us.. age 62 and 60, retired 30 yr Navy..

I normally recommend Lake Pleasant RV Park in Bothell, WA but have heard their prices have gone up a lot this summer. It is north of Seattle proper but relatively easy access to the city and surrounding area. Another choice is Blue Sky in Preston, WA, which is east of the city about 20 miles. Seattle real estate prices are high so the camping is limited.
Check http://www.militarycampgrounds.us/ for military campgrounds (FamCamps). Fort Lewis has a FamCamp and is south of Tacoma, so it is not close to Seattle but a nice area.

If it's rain you're looking for, Seattle might not be the place to be. We just had rain last night for the first time in 29 days! The summers here just can't be beat. Enjoy your stay.

We travel a lot to the Seattle area and right at the moment we are parked at Lake Sawyer RV Resort.  It is just outside of "Seattle" by 20+ miles and find this to be the best camping we've had in ALL of the Seattle area.  You've got to check it out. 

(I respectably disagree on Lake Sawyer and we are Sunrise members and pay only $1/night to stay there plus we can buy our week out and therefore stay more than two weeks. The campsites are very tight and some of the "seasonals" (who buy their week out) can be very territorial. It is also a membership campground so you have to be a member or use Coast to Coast or other membership reciprocal systems to stay. But we also have little reason to be in that part of the metro, so that might bias us. It is nice to be closer to Mount Rainier and the Black Diamond Bakery. ) leilani59: Are you using "Seattle" to mean all of Western Washington or do you want some of the city experience? There are many nice campgrounds away from the Seattle-Tacoma-Everett metro zone with more reasonable camping costs and lots to do locally. We like the Washington coast area and are presently in the Long Beach-Ilwaco area, which we love. Other nice areas are the Skagit Valley (Mount Vernon/Anacortes/La Conner), and Port Townsend area (with an Escapees park).

Totally understand! My husband and I are 68 and 66, retired Navy. We selected  Washington state for retirement. Weather was one of the draws for us among other things. Florida was totally out of the question. Gets to hot, humid, and there are those hurricanes and bugs!!! We would travel there and stay for short trips...in the months of Nov or Dec. But, back to Washington....we are in the upper northwest corner of Washington...near the Canadian border. Weather here is more like what they get in Vancouver, Canada. Although Seattle had recorded a dryer than usual few months....they usually do get more rain than we do here in Ferndale, WA. We have our retirement home/property here. We are going to try to keep our "base home" here for now....but in a few years...we may decided to sell and go "full-timing".  A lot depends on the economy!! From here we drive once a month to Everett to refil prescriptions and go to the commissary at Smokey Point (Marysville..near Everett base).There are a lot of beautiful areas to visit and stay in Washington. Others here have given some good examples. Once we get back out there in our 5th Wheel we will be posting locations where we are camping...or boondocking...with descriptions and pictures.  Happy Trails!!!
