So I am now officially broke - but at least I have a place to live! LOL
I was talking to my wonderful friend Maria this morning and she said, "Oh, don't borrow money! I'll lend it to you!" That's the kind of person she is - what a gem. So I wrote a check a few hours ago for everything I had in the bank, and Maria's going to lend me enough to live on till I get a job. We have been friends for 19 years and she knows I'm good for it.
It's scary not having any money, but I know I'm doing the right thing!
The dealer is very, very good - if anyone needs a good service provider in the San Jose, CA area, they're great - Family RV. They are bending over backwards to make sure my 5th wheeler has whatever I need. I asked if they could put another rail on the outside since I have a bad shoulder - no problem. I asked if they could put carpet on the steps going into it - no problem. They also gave me a helluva deal on the warranty...
They emphasized that they want me to spend as much time as possible in it the next 30 days, so I can tell them if anything that isn't obvious is broken. I'm very pleased...penniless, but pleased

That's great, congratulations. Real quick --although you said you did not have a tow vehicle yet, did your dealer throw in a hitch?

No, my dealer is going to tow it for me to where I'm going to live, and it will be stationary for the next few years. : )

That would be a rare occurance, they will sell you one and install it but freebies are hard to come by.

Very true, Racerguy, but it never hurts to ask. Especially in this market.

Definitely. We know more than one person who got a hitch thrown in. I think it depends on how much the dealer is making on the transaction.

At least for us it did. At one dollar amount for the Hitchhiker he was throwing in the hitch. I squeezed some more and the hitch went from free to cost. (Still a better deal).

It all comes down to how low you get them to go.
