Just wondering if you use paper plate and disposable utensels or regualr ones.  We had a place setting for 4 of the correlle dishes, they take up very little space in the rv. 

I'm not a big fan of paper plates (although we do use them for lunch, and around the campfire for pies & s'mores), and I do not like plastic utensils at all.  I have Corelle and I love it!  I have 2 dishwashers - named Nicolas & Bryce - although Tom and I take turns occasionally!

We also have Corelle. I think you will find must fulltimers or "lots" timers prefer them.

Another corelle user. We have 4 sets with 4 plates/place settings in each. We leave 3 sets stored at Danielle's sisters house, and rotate them every year or so when we get tired of the ones we are currently using.

Corelle for fancy meals. Chinet paper plates for all other meals, especially when boondocking. Usually silverware. Plastic ware if don't feel like doing any dishes.

We use correlle dishes and regular utensils.  If we are boondocking for a few days, then we use paper plates and bowls for a couple meals.

I prefer not to use plastic utensils because it seems like it would take awhile for them to decompose in the landfill - like thousands of years!  (not to say that I haven't used them on occasion, but I like to think about what impact things like that have on the environment).

We use Correlle dishes, but splurge on the glassware and have some Waterford crystal and depression era martini and wine glasses that we use daily. We stuff them in sweat socks when we move.
you only go through once, might as well enjoy it.

I actually blogged about this topic. LOL! Tried them all...ended back with the dishes I had in the house for many years...they are used in many restaurants because of their durability.

There was lots of things that I got rid of when we moved into the 5th Wheel; however, my dishes were not one of those things.  I collect Longaberger pottery and I use Longaberger pottery everyday in our 5th Wheel.  I have those rubber things in between each plate or bowl and they ride just fine.  I did cut down on the number....I only have 4-6 of each plate or bowl.  This is our home now and I wanted it to be as much like how we lived before as possible!

I have stoneware dishes and I just cut squares of the noskid mat stuff and put between the dishes and they ride just fine.  We use regular flatware too I don't like plastic forks and spoons .  Paper plates for lunches or just a sandwich on a paper towel works too LOL!!!!!!!!!

We will see how all of this works when we leave Alaska in Sept and head for Florida.  Our plan is to do a 400 mile day and that is it, we want to enjoy the trip and see the sights.  We are getting excited to say the least

Hi Lovin Life, I dont think you're going to "enjoy the trip and see the sights" while you are driving about 7 hours a day. With breakdown in the morning and setup at arrival your filling your day pretty full with just traveling. You may want to think about recalculating. There's an awful lot of interesting things to see. We used Corelle for a few years but have been told that when it breaks, it really shatters. Recently I made a trip to a restaurant supply house and found wonderful Melimane dishes and acrylic wine glasses for a very reasonable price. They are far more sturdy than those at Bed Bath & Beyond. We do also have stoneware pasta plates because the shape is so useful for pasta and stew.

Diane being a ceramic engineer with a Master's degree can tell you in technical detail why Corelle eventually breaks, but we still use it since she likes how it looks. We do have a couple melamine plates that we use when microwaving lunch on the road. Since we also microwave the Corelle when we sit still I don't understand the logic of having melamine for the road, but suspect logic has nothing to do with it.

Well the 400 a day was his idea, I just nod my head and smile.  We have already decided that we aren't going to travel every day, so if we do a long day it will be no big deal because we will rest for a couple of days.  It is funny how with each passing day the plans change.  I am just going to enjoy the journey with my bestest friend and I am sure as we go on our way, he will realize we aren't the spring chickens that can drive for hours on end everyday and still be civil LOL!!!!!!!!!!!  We really don't have a time schedule what bills we have can be paid on line so we get there when we get there ....I think that's the best way to travel *S*
