DH and I--in addition to our fur babyboy Kume--we have 2 budgies (they are a couple). I love hearing them sing/chatter and enjoy their company. Soooo...I'm hoping that I will be able to have them with us in the RV when we travel. Anybody else do that? Welcome advice, suggestions, etc. I plan on getting their health/shot records from the vet and keep them and Kume's records as well..with us in the RV. I'm wondering about going in and out of states...will have to look up rules/laws on that. ~ NWlambear/*Tricia*

Though not a fulltimer yet, we have traveled with our Sun Conure, Sunny, for 22 yrs. We take her everywhere as she is part of our family. The only time I was nervous about crossing state lines was when leaving California about 6 yrs ago. Certain areas were quarantined for Newcastle Disease and it was common to have birds ceased and destroyed if entering or leaving the wrong area - regardless if they test negative or not.
I just came back from vacation in Big Bend NP and Guadalupe Mtn. NP in west Texas, close to the border. Though we passed through several immigration check points, we flew through with flying colors (pun intended.) We were asked once if she was a US citizen though. ;)
I wouldn't leave the country with a bird, as you may have difficulty returning.

Thanks for your comments....WOW...that would be scary running into a situation where birds may "ceased and destroyed". We don't plan on leaving the country so that won't be a problems. the birds..'Caruso' and 'Sophia' are part of our family too...we'll take them on short trips first..they stay in their cage and I've never tried to let them fly loose. They interact with the family from within their cage.

We have come across several rvers with birds and haven't heard any horror stories moving in and out of different states. I hope I am your neighbor in a campground some day so I can visit your babies.

Our friends that are in Gunnison CO with us now travel with two Parrots. They took one of the couches out of their MH and made a table for the cages. The put in heated perches. They said the most important thing is to keep the temps right in the MH for them at all times. The birds did get ill one time from a bacteria in the water supply where they were. They now give them bottled water as we do our dogs.
