we are looking to put a stackable washer and dryer in our mobile suites. does anyone know or had an experience with them. what is probably the best.

We also have the apartment size stackable Kenmores and are very happy with them. No issues after 3 years of constant use. The only times we go to a laundry room is for comforters or duvet covers.

Ditto with the Kenmores. Very happy with them. They keep up with the 3 of us. Makes for a fun ride from time to time when the spin cycle is out of balance. Ours have been used on average at least once a month for 14 years, no problems.
We have stackable Maytag Neptunes at home and they work well, except the washer is a front load, so you have to constantly clean the seals to prevent mold and smell. These would be too big for most RV's.

From what I have heard I would want to stay away from the Spledide. Never heard anything or even heard of Pinnacle ??

We use our Spledide every day without no problems, even wash the sheets in it. We did have to get adjusted to the smaller size which didn't take long. As for us we give Spledide a thumbs up.

As the washer woman in our Elite Suites I would highly recommend the Kenmore. I can do a king size sheet in it along with about 4 pillow cases. We also have some runner rugs in our RV 3 to be exact and I can do one of them by itself with no problems. I think if you purchase a well know unit you will be happy and have less repairs. southwestjudy

Sherri has the Splindide stacks and she uses her's most every day. Had some trouble with the dryer but was fixed no problem. We wash 90% of our stuff and seems to do real well.

i think we are going with a splendide all-in-one the 2100 XC so we will have less weight and more shelves. we will have plenty of time to do laundry anyway. thank you guys for all the responses

Just remember in doing so you will only be able to wash and then dry. One machine working at a time. Friends of ours have a one unit and hate it and end up going to the laundry mat most of the time. She said one pair of jeans and 2 t-shirt is about all she can do at one time. They have a MH. southwestjudy

You might want to also check on RV.Net and Escapees forums. I've never had the all in one Splendide, but my memory is that there are a lot of unhappy owners of them from what was reported.

We like our Splendide 2100 combo unit and know many happy owners of combo units. But for some people the combos do not fit the way they do laundry and they are very vocal about it.

We have the Splendide combo and are very happy with it. We put in a load, go about our business for the day, the load is ready for the hangers when we return. There was an extensive thread about wrinkled clothes awhile back. You probably should check it out for some great tips.

We have a Kenmore stacking washer /dryer which we bought new about 18 months ago. You can ONLY wash or dry but not both at the same time. Even if you could rewire it to do both, I'm not sure how the control lever could be adjusted on the front of the machine. All controls for both units are on the washer and the lever has to be moved back and forth indicating whether you're using the washer or the dryer. The dryer is 110 volt which of course, means it takes about two hours to dry a load of clothes.
Although it has limitations and we don't use it very often, I like knowing it's there if we need it.

Maybe I should explain our Kenmore washer and dryer. These are seperate 2 units in our one big storage space one above the other not hooked together..... I do and can wash and dry at the same time. We have 30 amps right now and both machines CAN and Do work at the same time. In other words I can be washing a load and drying a load at the same time. That was an extra install at the time we bought our Elite suites. southwestjudy

Also does anyone know how to vent the dryer if there is no place for one on the trailer. We have a 2008 Carri-lite Emerald and there is room for a vent but no vent there yet. Please help....

The installer will cut a hole in the appropriate place and install the vent and cover.
I've never heard of Pinnacle so can't comment. What is the attraction of that particular brand?
Mightn't you be better served by buying a Sears or other apartment sized main line brand? It will probably be cheaper and you can get service anywhere.

While we have never owned a Pinnacle, in the not too far past we were researching the different options of washers and dryers. Whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore, Splendide and Pinnacle were brands we looked into. As for the brand name, I don't know that Maytag or Whirlpool offer stackables. But, I do know that Kenmore offers a set.
In our looking, we checked on different forums and used our search engine to find particular model numbers. Then we looked for any reviews of the models in question.
We got pretty positive results with all BUT the pinnacle.
We know of a couple in Elk City, Oklahoma that buy used Mobile Suites fifth wheels at auction and then go through all the systems and check them out and clean them up. They are known to install the Kenmore set when they add a washer and dryer.
When searching, watch that you don't get a dryer that is 240V instead of 120.

I was very hesitant on getting the combo, especially after reading so many comments regarding it, but am so grateful to Paul for insisting on it!
Have washed jeans, shirts and even the king size sheets, split into two load with a couple smaller items. The drying time was less then I thought it would be.

I'm also grateful that Jo got it. But, I knew I was right. :)

One good thing about RVing is that you can put semi-dry items outside to be fully dried by the sun. What could be better smelling than a sun-dried pillowcase?

We have the vented Splendide 2100XC. In the almost 3 years we have been using it I have had a couple issues. About every 6 or 7 months I have to pull the unit and clean out the dryer hose and the dryer exhaust on the back of the unit. In my opinion it is not designed correctly. The exhaust from the drum turns 90 degrees where it meets the back of the unit and is susceptible to catching link. Eventually it will clog. You know it needs to be cleaned when it takes 2 dry cycles to get the cloths dry.
The other problem was a wire connector that burned up, reason unknown. The wires went to the door latch and without it the unit was not inoperative. Took me awhile to find the problem, but it was an easy fix, I hard wired to the door switch.
We still think the purchase was a great idea. We hated going to public laundry to do our clothes. We do at least one load every day we are sitting still. It's nice that you can load it up and forget it, and when you get back to it the clothes are dry.
We would purchase the same unit again despite the problem with lint. Our unit is easy to remove. If it wasn't I might have a different opinion. And it might not be a problem for people who have very short dryer exhaust hoses. Our unit faces the front of the coach and is on the street side, means the hose is longer than the width of the machine.

So Dan, are you saying that a unit that is located on the driver's side wall might be better because of a shorter hose? (I get a little confused about left/right, etc...lol)

Just a comment, in 2009 we ordered the 2010 Mobile Suites we now have used for over a year. We also have owned the Splendide Combo (vented) and the Splendide Ariston stackable. The Combo worked just like the book says, however with the Splendide Ariston Stackable we could wash and dry at the same time. The Ariston did a great job. However we were set to order Splendide Ariston again, but we had the option of getting a Whirlpool system and was cheaper than the Splendide. Since our W/D set side by side we went with the Whirlpool System and we are very pleased with the Whirlpool W/D. We think it makes less noise and the Dryer seems to dry faster. And most anyplace can repair a Whirpool. Just another choice, keep in mind that Whirlpool still makes Kenmore brand as for as I know. GBY......

Stay away from the Pinnacle. Our Excel came with them in lieu of Whirlpool, which they couldn't get, from the first wash the washer made all sorts of racket and we would be outside and could hear it from 50 ft away outside. I contacted Pinnacle and they said it sounded like the retaining bolts were not removed, since I couldn't see if they were or not we did not use the washer, but used the dryer. The bad thing about the dryer is it did not have a lint trap, you have to remove the vent cover on the outside of the unit to clean the vent, fire hazard maybe.
Anyway Excel has replaced the Pinnacles with Whirlpool and it is a world of difference.
I do not recommend Pinnacles.

If you're looking high end we've seen some Bosch stackables in MHs lately. No experience with them -- yet, but we hope to know more soon!
Glad to hear the Splendide works well as that's what we've seen otherwise.

I would really like to see a stackable unit before buying, but the only ones I can see are on the internet. Can anyone tell me where to go and see a set. The ones I see at Sears are the one piece set with washer on bottom and dryer above.

I know that the shorter the hose the better. On the Splendide, looking at the back of the unit, the exhaust is on the right hand side. The unit is installed facing the front of the coach, and the vent is installed on the drivers side of the coach. This means the hose has to stretch across the back of the machine to hit the vent. If the dryer was installed on the passenger side rear of the coach and the vent was on the passenger side of the coach, then the hose could be less than a foot long.

We bought our rv used and it had Majestic units in them. I managed to fix them once. I could not fix the next time and no repair facilities would touch those Chinese units so I junked the and bought Whirlpool units. We love them, they work great.
