We are finally starting to move toward full timing!!! I am cleaning out closets and we are taking the junk to the flea market where we have rented a booth. So far we have had to fill the booth twice in two weeks which is good because we have a lot to sell. Of course we are pricing things riduculosly cheap....we just want them out of the house! We have also started looking at used 5th wheels to get ideas as to what will work for us. Last weekend I broached the subject of our leaving with my oldest daughter.... it went ok. Not great but what can she really say? It is our decision and our life. We have set a date to put the house on the market (April 15th) and hope to be on the road by the fall. I just wanted to touch base with other wanabees that are on the same timeline so we can offer support to each other. Our main issue is dealing with family members and of course finances. We are not to retirement age and do not have a nest egg to fall back on. We will be using the money we get from the sale of the house to buy the RV and truck. My husband has disability and VA benefits that we will live on and we plan on doing some work camping. If anyone is in the same situation I would love to hear from you!

Congratulations on the lifestyle change. Your story is very similar to ours as we did the same thing in December 2007. Yes, getting the house empty and then selling the house was the most difficult part of the whole process. It really amazes me how much stuff we had crammed into the house and garage. Luckily we had picked out our coach while waiting for the house to close so we knew how much storage space was available. We decided to use plastic bins in the basement, so I used tape in our living room to mark the size of the basement and we used that to ensure our bins would all fit. By doing that we knew how much we could keep and take with us. Worked out nicely for our situation. I see your looking at 5'ers so it may be more difficult to figure out storage space limits as well as weight limitations.
We wish you the best of luck as you make the change, if I can help answer any questions let me know. And welcome to the forum Christy and Paul, you will find lots of helpful folks here so don't hesitate to ask questions.

I agree, baby steps are where it starts, we are on baby step 3, house is for sale, about 2/3's of the stuff is gone, wifes car is sold, working on selling current 5th Wheel to get bigger one to live in fulltime. We are not at retirement age either and will be working and traveling the Eastern US. Daughter and family thought we were crazy but Daughter is Ok with it now. Family still thinks we are nuts, I do not really care it is our life.

Robert and Debra, Great to hear from you! Please keep in touch. We are moving right along with our plans and may list our house sooner than we thought. We have told two of our three kids and so far one is supportive (the youngest). We just keep moving toward our goal, working on the house to get it market ready, getting rid of "stuff" and telling friends and family. All our friends have been very supportive and envious, just our family who are worried about how it will affect THEM are the only problem. Good luck on selling your S&B. We are going to our first RV show this Sat. but just to look, cannot afford a new one. We have to stick to a strict budget to make this work!! Christy and Paul
