This is not a new item, just a reminder. Had my radiator give out this past weekend. (there is a recall #0B006 or 0B007 I think) I am still trying to find a replacement and have lost 2 days reservation on a park so far. The Ford dealers told me that anyone who does not get the recall attended to ASAP can look forward to a blown radiator in short order. Apparently its very hard to find a new radiator. 2 days or searching so far.

I assume you're talking about the venturi T (fix) for the radiator issues. We had it done to our 2008 F-450 back in October of 08. At a little over 20,000 miles we're sitting in Colby Ks. with the truck badly hurt at the local Ford dealer. They don't know all the damage yet, but looks like the radiator was the start of it. The service manager here told me they don't know why they're losing the radiators in these trucks, but the band-aid with the venturi T didn't do the job. Some guys are on their third radiator already. Up to this point I was very happy with the truck, not so happy now.

Yup..I was told the T venturi fix was it but I have since talked to 3 others who were on their 3rd radiator. Looks like the radiator deal is going to a once a year breakdown. Not looking forward to it again.

Just curious, but since your radiator went out in Feb. have you had any other issues with the truck. Did they fix it right? Also what was the mileage when you lost the radiator. Ours had just turned 20,000 that day.

Glove Compartment door fell off...new one fixed under warranty Chrome peeled off the bumpers...took a lot of yelling and screaming but eventually was fixed under warranty. Vibration in driveshaft...was a recall..warranty At 60,000..exhaust header broke at connection to exhaust system. Mileage went from 6.5 mph to 4.0, fumes filled cab, regenerated 100% of time. fixed under warranty.
Unit is now 2.5 years old (Built Jan 3, 07 the first day of production). With exception of extremely poor fuel mileage, I like the truck. Wish the integrated brake controller would have worked (I use an aftermarket brake controller)

Mileage when radiator went the first time was 55,000. Most others I have talked to lost the first one around 20-30,000

Do I understand this correctly? You have an AF450 and get 6.5 mpg? That is way low, IMO. How much is the combined weight?
My F550 with 4.88 rear and automatic was at 26,000 lbs combined and I got 8.6 pulling at 63 mph, and around 10 bobtail. The 8.6 mpg was actual measured over 3.5 years of towing.

Jack.....Truck (without people) is 9600 lbs, trailer is 20,000 for a total (with people) of approx 30,000 lb. Its an automatic with 4.88 gears. I get 6.5 mph towing and about 11.0 not towing. There has been little change from day one. I think the poor fuel economy is one reason the 6.4 diesel is being discontinued. Like I said, nice truck but terible fuel economy. I too don't travel faster than 63-64mph.

Igotjam, our weights are almost the same as yours, we have 4:30 gears. Mileage is a little better at 7-8 towing and 12-13 empty. On another forum, guys are reporting unreal numbers of 11-12 towing and 18-19 empty. Everyone I talk to with the 6.4 is a lot closer to our numbers. I should find out today what the damage on our truck is, he expected to find a bent or broken rod.

We have a F-550 truck and tow an Elite Suites. We get 13 mpg not towing.... 10mpg towing 20,000. F-550 has a 4.88 rear engine also. Our F-550 has a 7.3 PSD (power stroke diesel). We have heard of the new 6.4 getting lousy milege. southwestjudy

I think I'll stay away from Ford when it's time to buy! I just hope Dodge and GM can stay in production!!!

Although I am a LOYAL Dodge Pickup guy and would have nothing else just remember that with Dodge and G.M. you limit your choice of unit because of tow capacity.Actually all 3 have their problems mostly related to the greenies in the government and the emmissions regulations. My 2008 Dodge is twice the truck my 2001 Dodge was except for the fuel mileage due to being 2010 compliant on emmissions. I would not rule out Ford because of a radiator problem if you plan to by one of the heavier 5ver's. Good luck on your decision.

I'm looking at a 2010 HH DA 348SB. It has a GVWR of 15,600, Hitch Weight of 2,180 and UVW of 12,180. These weights are with standard equipment only and are I assume based on dry weight with no fluids added.
Ford scares me as I read about too many problems with them, but that may be due to so many Fords in use! I like the Cummins engine and engine brake in the Dodge, but also like the Chevy/GMC for quality.
