Has anyone heard anything about problems insuring US purchased RV's in Canada? We were told by a dealer .... who I must say wasn't trying to sell us anything.... that there may be a problem because of CSA Standards and that regulations might be changing in the near future so that units not CSA approved would not be insurable. Hopefully that isn't true but it is cause for thought for any of us considering buying in the States

Here's a list of places that sell RV insurance. Call them, they know all the ins and outs of RVs. We're insured with Wayfarer in Ontario, that's all they insure - RVs so if they don't know, no one will.

Sandra gave good advise. I had my 5th wheel built and paid extra for the CSA certification (sticker). I have met 2 other who are Canadian who refused to pay extra for the CSA sticker and have them insured and registered in Canada. They told me it wasn't required. They could have told me a fib but I don't think so.

Thank you for your advice. I called a BC insurance company and was told there was an issue with some motor homes but not with 5th wheels as far as they knew. They directed me to Transport Canada's website which has quite a bit of information on importing both motor vehicles and trailers from the US.

I bought my motorcyle from Florida last year and had no trouble insuring it. But good tip though to check out before I go any further looking through MH's for sale in the States. I will call my Insurance Company tomorrow and let you know what they say. Thanks !
