We left later in the day than we wanted to on Tuesday before Thanksgiving and hit really bad traffic. A two hour journey turned into 4 hours of bumper to bumper traffic.
This was our first experience towing with the new truck in this kind of traffic.
However, we had a pleasant surprise when we filled up the fuel tanks on the Kodiak. We averaged 9.5 MPG while towing the 5th wheel in the traffic. I was expecting to see somewhere below 8 MPG.
Also, had to make one panic stop at a signal. If we had been in the old truck we would have been halfway through the intersection before I would have gotten it stopped. With the new truck we stopped before the white line.
Previous trips had already convinced me the Kodiak MDT was the way to go. This trip confirmed it.
Side Note: I've been driving the Kodiak back and forth to work for the past couple of weeks because first my wife's car broke and now that it's fixed, my car decided to break. It really isn't bad around town solo. A little rough riding but I love the turning radius. The 53 degree wheel cut is awesome for getting in and out of parking spaces.
Thought I would share my thoughts for any of you who might be considering an MDT as a tow vehicle.
