I've searched here in this thread and didn't see anything on this. My question is: Do you keep your stove cover on, so you can use it for traveling or do you just take it off and store it? Frankly it is a pain in my behind to keep opening and closing it, and when it's open then I can't get to my knves or spice rack when cooking, and that's when I need access to them! Please give me some imput on what you have done , does it stay or does it go?

Luckily our stove doesn't have a cover. I'm sure if it did my wife would have had me remove it. She would want easy access to spice & knife racks.
We had a custom corian board with feet that fit our burners to hold it in place, along with a couple of covers for our sink. That way my wife can increase or decrease extra counter space as needed.

I'm not the experienced RVer; but, after living in our 5th wheel since July 22, about 2 weeks ago I found a way to get rid of the contraption that was covering my stovetop. It had to be folder up and made to stand up behind the burners every time you wanted to cook something. It also leaned forward so much that the back burner was hard to use. I found the screws that were holding the "thing" on and took them out and threw it in the yard!!!! Much better and I will manage without the extra counter space that it provided when it was down.

Hubby installed my knife rack on an inside cabinet door. My stovetop is covered with granite and all I have to do is push a button and it goes up and down for me in our Elite Suite Fiver. southwestjudy

Ours is a folding metal cover that is easy to prop up when cooking and when down adds nicely to the workable counter space.
We keep our knives in a drawer and the spices also. At the back of the stove we have the coffee and tea canisters and the container for all the large cooking utensils, which are easily accessed even when the cover is up.
In the end you have to make it work for you, we all have slightly different configurations.
Good luck,
Fred

Yup, we have the same configuation with spice rack and knives behind the stove. As weekends it is not an issue. But I can see when fulltiming I might rethink the whole thing.

We left ours on as there is nothing behind ours and no room to put anything. I have a hook attached to the wall that keeps the cover standing up when cooking. Other than that I keep the sink cover on top of it as both sinks are left open for use.
