The current converter in my 5er has died and I must buy a new one. My 5er has 50amp service and my old converter was a WFCO 55amp model 9855 converter. My question is that since I am buying a new one would I gain any advantage if I bought a converter larger than 55amp? Would this help or increase usability in any way? Also, does anyone know of a good source to buy this?

Getting one with a three stage charger like the WFCO 9800 series or Progressive Dynamics 9200 series (or 9100 with added charge wizard) would be best, that way your batteries would get charged properly. See their specs at http://www.wfcoelectronics.com for WFCO. A 55AMP WFCO converter uses about 12AMPs of alternating current while an 75AMP WFCO converter (largest) would use 13AMPs, both of which should be OK unless you run 300' of 15AMP power cord to charge your batteries. How big is your battery bank? If you have 300 AMP-hours or more of battery bank then going to a 75AMP converter would be useful, that is 1/4 of the battery bank size (rule of thumb).
I have never bought from bestconverter.com, they just had good info.

Thanks for your input. I talked to Randy at Best Converter and ended up getting a Xantrex converter. A couple of dollars more but at least it is made in Canada and not China.
