I'm packing the contents of my house for storage and to take in an RV, and wonder about things such as cleaning products.  Do special kinds have to be used in an RV, or the same as what you would buy for a house.  What about toilet bowl cleaners (just bought a new bottle & hate to throw it out).  Also do you need special toilet paper for an RV?  I normally use Angel Soft, sometimes 1 ply & sometimes 2 ply, depending on whatever is on sale.  Will this do in the RV?
And sinks & countertops - I would think they would be cleaned with the same stuff you use in the stix & brix.  Is there anything that shouldn't be used in an RV?  I'm pretty environmentally conscious so I don't buy anything that is caustic, but not sure about RV plumbing systems.  Thanks.

Cleaning products: you want to be certain you are using a mild enough product when cleaning the shower.  A fiberglass shower stall can scratch, or etch, if you use some of the products people use on tile in a house.  But you can use regular grocery store products, like the sprays that disinfect. 

Toilet cleaning:  Here you will get different opinions, but you don't want to use any of the toilet cleaning products that I know of because they will kill the bacteria that are doing their work in the black holding tank.  I don't really know what is a good way to clean the bowl.  What I do is only clean the bowl once a week when I dump the black tank.  I use Kaboom Bowl Blaster foaming toilet cleaner, clean the bowl well, and then dump and then I REALLY flush out of the black tank.  I have a tank flusher system attached at the black tank.

But I would not use a toilet bowl cleaner in between tank dumping because that would interfere with the work of the black tank chemical I use, RV-TEC 100 Holding Tank Treatment, that I buy in the RV section at WalMart.  Some people say they don't use a black tank chemical, but that doesn't work for me because of odor problems. 

I use Clorox wipes on the seat and other wipeable areas of the toilet.  Those go in the trash after being used.

Use you home cleaning products at home and then give leftovers to a neighbor when you move out.

Toilet paper:  Angel Soft works fine.  Do not waste money on the unsatisfactory special RV toilet paper.

The RV plumbing systems are fine for most non caustic cleaning products.  The issue is putting things in the holding tank that can be bad.  If you leave those chemical things in the holding tank, not only will you destroy beneficial bacteria, but since the stuff is being held, you expose yourself to the dangerous fumes from the product.
