Greetings We are also researching whether a fifth wheel or motorhome would be right for us. If we were going to buy either and want to keep it for say 20 years or so which one, FW or MH would be more dependable and hold up for that long. Has anyone seen or still use an old rv for fulltiming that is dependable...? How long do they last? How long do most people keep their RVs? Since we are retired buying a new RV every 8 years or so isn't something we can consider financially, I don't think.
Also, we bought the RV.org ratings and the Tiffin Phaenton was rated for snowbirding not fulltiming. We just toured their plant and were very impressed with the insulation so it was a surprise to us when we saw it not rated for fulltiming.
Thanks for your help on the big decision:):)

This surprises me however you need to ck the insulation factor when cking RV's and MH. Usually a company has ratings one for walls, one for roof and so forth. southwestjudy

I would think that a fiver would definitely last longer than a motor home, only because it is MUCH simpler from a mechanical pont of view.
With the fiver though, you will have ot look at truck replacement sometime down the road.
Good luck,
Fred
