Hi all! We are going to Tucson to pick up a 5er and truck in March. (I"m so excited!!!) However, we will have to bust it back here to Delaware as I have to go back to work. Can anyone suggest easy in and out campgrounds along Interstate 20 through Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama? Thanks and hope to meet you all out on the road sometime soon! Loralie
Last year we traveled from Texarkana TX to South Carolina and there just aren't very many RV parks along I-20 and few Wal Marts too. We ended up staying in the Flying J one night. I-20 is just not very RV friendly. Let me suggest I-40 instead. It is much more RV friendly. It won't get you all the way to Tucson but it will be within a days drive to the south. You can take I-44 south out of Oklahoma City to Wichita Falls then drop down to I-20.

I think Loralie is talking about on the way back with their new RV???? When you come through Texas on I20 just out of Dallas there is a real EZ on EZ off CG just past the 635 Exit. There are two more between there and Canton TX that are real nice. I wish I could call the names but they do not come to me now. Just when you get into Shrevesport there is a nice KOA on the right side that is not too bad to get into. Also the Fly J fuel stop is an easy in and out just as you come to town. They both will be on your right. There is a good RV Park at the Diamond Jacks Casino in Sherv. at the Diamond Jacks Blvd exit. Take the Exit and turn right. Go straight to the Casino and when you come into the Casino grounds the RV park is on the Left hand side. Good Food and Fun there.
Congratulations on your purchase. Have a safe and wonderful trip.

Just East of Dallas on I-20 are Lakeside RV Park, Terrell RV Park and Bluebonnet Ridge RV Park. All are EZ off and on. Near Monroe, LA is Pavillion RV Park which is EZ to get to.

Please notice that there was no mention of RV parks on I-20 east of Shreveport!! There just aren't very many.

There are RV parks in Vicksburg, MS by the casinos, which is east of Shreveport. Isle of Capri changed names but the campground was fairly easy in and out.

Hi Loralie, We crossed from Va to AZ via I 20 and I 10, stayed in several Wal-marts. There is a Passport America park at the Talledega exit in Al with full hook ups for $10. It's about 5 min off I20, but a great deal for full hookups, if you want to dump tanks, do laundry etc. Escapees has the Pecos park in Pecos, cheap. There isn't alot on I10 or 20 across Texas, but it's not hard to find a place to stay. If you don't already own The Next Exit book, by all means get one. It is a great tool when traveling the interstates, especially when exits get few and far between. We use a Garmin GPS, but still refer to The Next Exit often. You can get them at Flying J's and Camping Worlds.
Best of luck to you on your trip and enjoy the drive! Molly & Bob

Molly and Bob,
Thank you very much for the information. We will get the Exit now book. We are planning on doing a quick trip of it, but then will go back next year when work is all over and take a nice leisurely drive through.
Where in Va did you go? We used to live in Floyd, Va and still consider it a major part of our lives.

Easy in, easy out, never wake up the camping neighbors whatever time you do either, often 24hr security, easy re-supply.
Yahoo groups maintain a listing of store specifics.
