I need to replace the tires on my tow vehicle. Being new to towing a large 5er I have been trying to decide the best tire to use. After much reading I am more confused than ever. Do I need an all season tire? An all terrain tire? In the beginning I will be mostly on paved roads but hope to eventually travel to the west and do some sightseeing in the desert areas. What is a good tire? I have read many reviews on tirerack and just when I think that one tire is OK I read another review about how terrible they are. I decided to come to the forum to the people that actually tow for some info to help me make a choice.
Thanks for your help.

Mike, take a look at the Goodyear kevlar belted silent armour tires. They have a pretty aggresive tread yet they ride good on the road. I have had them on for 20k and like them. The only complaint I have with them is they seem just a bit loud. I don't know about off road but they do well in the snow. I don't tow FT so towing I have only 2k on them but they seem fine.

Hi Mike,
Our 2006 Ford F350 came with BF Goodrich Rugged Tread T/A tires, size LT245/75R17. We have over 45,000 miles on them, about 20K towing, and they still have slightly over 1/4" of tread left.
I couldn't be more pleased, we'll probably get 60,000 miles before they need changing.
Good luck,
Fred

I replaced the original Firestone tires on my 2000 F250 last year with Michelin LTX M/S and really like them, the ride was improved and being from Colo, they did fine in snow, so far anyway
