We are planning to be in the Scottsdale, Arizona area from mid-November to mid-January and are looking for recommendations for RV resorts. We want to be somewhere near the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale. By near I mean probably within 30-35 miles but closer is better. As long as we have to be in a city, we would like the amenities that go along with the places that add resort to their name like pool, nearby golf, exercise room, activities, etc.
We have looked at a number of places in the Mesa area and most of them look like they are 80-90% park models with a few RVs scattered around. A lot of them look like most sites are back-in with another RV or park model right behind. We used Google Earth to see what they really look like. We have not been there to actually see any of them.
So the question is, can anyone make any recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

I'd recommend that you look at the reviews on RV Park Reviews for Scottsdale.
http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/Arizona/Scottsdale.html
This will give you a good idea of what real people who have stayed at the various campgrounds think of them.
Good luck,

If you don't mind being about 20 miles away, you might check into Apache Junction. We stayed at The Meridian last winter, which is a resort that only allows RV's, no park models. It's not a bad place, but the sites are pretty close together. That was my biggest complaint about the place. The rates were a little lower than some of the other, big parks in the area. They have lots of social events, a very nice pool and spa, exercise room, etc.
We found it easy to get around the area. There are freeways everywhere, and if you can avoid the typical rush hours, traffic moves along pretty well, on average. The Meridian is convenient to the freeway, but not so close as to be bothered by the noise.
Thanks in advance.
