Because of a stupid mistake I'm not even going to discuss,  I now have a crack in the corian cover over the stove top.  Is there some way to repair it?

Cracked as in broken in two? That might be a problem. In either case take it to a local Corian installer/fabricator (yellow pages or ask for a name at a Lowes/Home Depot). They have a special Corian epoxy (in the exact color to boot) and if broke in two will suggest a way to repair with reinforcements. I'll bet they won't charge much at all (or nothing) to apply some adhesive for you. Good luck.

It really is just a surface crack about  2" long but it is starting to discolor so very apparent.  Hopefully I can just get some adhesive and fix it myself.

The crack repair process is quite straightforward. Clean out the crack (scrape out the discoloration) and have it filled with the Corian epoxy. They should then cover the repair by slapping aluminum foil in it in order to maintain the curing heat. After it sets 24hrs carefully putty knife off the excess and then start sanding with wet/dry starting around 320 grit and work up to a polish at 1000 grit or so.

What is the best way to polish corian? Ours seems so dull and not sure what to use. thanks and appreciate any suggestions.

Depending on the extent of the scratching, start wet sanding at 400/600 move up to 800 and finally 1000. Finish (if necessary) with white polishing compound on a slower speed polishing wheel. Matte finished Corian won't need any more than 800 while a high gloss (unless it is a gloss coating) might need the white polish step. Stop when the lustre all matches.
