We have a 2002 Cedar Creek Fiver we bought in February.   First 6 trips out in it, no problem.  ON 7th trip upon arrival at the campground we found our living room TV on the floor with cable connections broken off.  It did some damage to the fireplace below by scratching the brass.  Luckily no broken glass.  We thought we must not have secured it correctly with the strap.

The TV no longer could get reception but we used it for DVD viewing and plan on buying a new TV next season. 

Last week off we go making sure the strap is secure.  We get to the campground, once more TV on the floor.  This time it bent the fireplace frame. The strap was still hooked.  Now we have a picture when playing the DVD for only about 10 minutes.  I suppose it is the picture tube on the way out.

Any suggestions on how we can get this thing to stay in place without uglying it up?   

We have a flat screen and put it on the floor under the desk for travel but we leave the VCR/DVD player on the shelf. It's only held by heavy duty velcro and in 3 years over some pretty rough roads, it's never fallen.

We would guess rear or near rear entertainment center by your experience.  It does get bouncy back there.  We put throw pillows or packing foam in the space beside and above the TV to limit the free motion behind the strap.  We use velcro straps vertical and horizontal.  Of course we boondock a lot and therefore are on washboard roads occasionally which shake anything the least bit loose.  We plan to get a flat screen LCD this year to reduce the weight and storage requirement.

Our TV is anchored to a 3/4" thick piece of wood which is then bolted into the entertainment unit. If we need to move the TV, we just undo the bolts and do whatever we need to do then bolt it back in.

We are Cedar Creek owners, on our third one.  I used some small brackets that and a strap that I bought at the hardware store.  I mounted the brackets in the back of the entertainment center and run the strap through them.  Whenever it was time to go, I just belted the TV in using the strap.  We now have a Sharp Aquous LCD HD TV and I designed a mounting bracket for it so it is permanently attached to the slideout tray in the entertainment center.  If this is not a clear enough explanation, please send me a private message with your email address and I will email you some digital photos.
