I have a 95 Travel Supreme fifth wheel with electric brakes. I don't like the jerkiness when braking, I can't seem to get the brakes to brake smoothly. Is this common? Does anyone have disc brakes on their fifth wheel and how do they perform? I am going to search the internet for other posts but I thought I'd ask here first. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you need to adjust your contoller for less braking. Other than that, someone with more knowledge will have to chime in.

We ordered our Hitchhiker with disc brakes. They work like a charm. As mentioned above though, you probably just need an adjustment on your controller or even a better controller. The Prodigy is the best for electric brakes but if you are going to change to disc you might check out which controller to use for your application. Ours wouldn't accept the Prodigy. We use the BrakeSmart now and it is great. Hope you get your problem worked out.

Besides the brake controller, you probably should have the brakes checked. On a 1995, they may be starting to stick or hang up.
We have regular brakes and the built in Ford brake controller and they work flawlessly.
Let us know what you find out.
Good luck,
Fred

Thanks to all of you. I will have the brakes checked. I bought this unit this year to ease our way back into camping after a twenty year hiatus. I actually bought it for the truck that went with it, a F350, diesel, Lariat interior, crew cab with 29,000 miles on it. Anyway, we have used it several times this summer and I am not very happy with the way it brakes, but I will have it checked out and let you know.
Fred, we were in Beloit, WI the first of this month. I went to the RV dealer you bought you Cameo from, they remembered you. Anyway just thought I'd let you know they are no longer a dealer for Carriage, they now carry Big Horns by Heartland.
Happy Trails to all. Only 892 more days.

Hi Ken,
Thanks for the info on Finnegans, I'm surprised to hear it.
They were wonderful to work with and very knowledgeable and honest.
