We are thinking about spending some time at Christmas this year in San Antonio. Does anyone have a CG that they would recommend? Planning to stay a week or 10 days.

We always stayed at Canyon Lake outside of San Antonio, in the state park (Potters Creek) very peaceful and clean, only electric and water but they do have a dump station. Pads are huge and spread apart. Lots of wildlife and the deer are on your front porch every night looking for handouts.
If your wanting something close to downtown there's Travelers World , I have only seen it passing by, its huge and close to the riverwalk.

Check out Campground Review right here in this forum. Howard has a CG near San Antonio where they stayed. Take a look at it and see if it is to your liking.

If you want to be closer in to the Riverwalk and The Alamo then checkout Traveler's World (www.travelersworldrv.com). We stayed there 2 years ago and enjoyed it. We didn't have a "toad" with us so we used the city bus, which stopped right in front, to take us downtown. It was about a 10-15 min. ride to the Riverwalk for 50 cents each!

We stayed at Braunig Lake RV Park just south of San Antonio. It was a short drive into town. A nice park. We were there a little over a week.

Depends on what you want/plan on doing. Although we normally stay at Madina Lake, when want to visit around S.A. we stay at Jelly Stone park on the near south side.
You can walk accross street for bus. Also ride the various shuttle around town.
Have found that parking down town is almost impossable.
Of course going to the Military bases requires driving. Staying at the Fam Camp (if qualified) is also hard because they are normally full.
Of course for us old folks, nothing is still as it was in the early "40's"

We would want to spend time on the Riverwalk and see some of the sights. Shopping, water parks, etc are what we intend to do.

A couple of years ago we stayed in Canyon Lake also, and loved the area. We stayed at a Passport America park, Riverside Resort, which was owned by a young family and they were great. It was an easy ride into San Antonio from the park and also into the Texas Hill Country. We would definitely stay there again. Here's the website: http://www.riversideresort.net/index.htm
