We will be retiring in about 2 1/2 years and looking to buy a fifth wheel.
We have done a lot of research and learned a lot (enjoyed this and other forums - gaining knowlege from all of you full timers), but this is a topic we have discussed recently.  We both love to read and have a huge collection of books (which I'm sure we'll hate to part with..lol) - we obviously know that with space/weight restrictions in a fifth wheel, we won't be able to keep a lot of books.
For those of you who read a lot (both of us probably read a couple of books a week), what do you do with books you've read? 
Book trades at campgrounds?  Give away/trade with other RVers? 
Just curious...I'm sure there are many of you in the same boat.

We made sure we bought a trailer with a high CCC and carry approximately a hundred books with us, at least half from our cookbook collection. We've found that many campgrounds have an area in the office or laundry room where residents can put books and magazines for others to take. Any time we've left books, we find them gone in a short time, and have found books we are interested in occasionally. Also, we've found local libraries quite amenable to us borrowing books while we're staying in their area. Since some of these systems are county wide, we often time can keep the loans for quite a while depending on our travel plans. Good luck, Fred

Like Fred we have a box in the office here where we are staying. We drop off copies of books that we have read and pick up any that interest us. Most Resorts and Campgrounds that we stay at have the same box. I have seen some resorts advertising libraries that probably would love books contributed. Read all you want and then drop them off and pick up another! Cool idea. We put all our Mags on disk now and that saves a ton of weight. Joe and Sherri

My wife had many, many books. It was very hard for her to get rid of a lot of them when we moved into our MH. We carry quite a few books with us, and she has a couple of boxes of favorite books stored at her Sister's.

When we get to her Sister's house, she trades the ones she has been reading for others that she hasn't read for awhile.

Also, there seem to be quite a few campgrounds where you can donate your old books, or trade for books that they have.

Have you tried E-BOOKs, from your larger bookstores? I have read about them as being one way to get up what you want to read. They can be loaded on to your laptop or your can get a special e-book reader, I THINK??? Of course you pay full price as you would for a printed book. Just an idea... Aloha, Deb
