If you do...can you still add the Calgon, or fabric softener, and or dawn too?
Thanks

A slight topic deviation FWIW I do not use anything in either tank unless 1) the rig will be sitting in extreme heat and be all closed up for few days or 2) if there is a heavy dose of TP in there. Only in those two cases will I maybe add a tiny Potty Toddy (by Valterra) tablet to help break down the TP and possible smell. Never have had an odor problem. Your results with your own waste tank brews will certainly vary. Going without tank additives is certainly worth a try - the price and simplicity is right!

We haven't used any treatments in our tanks since we went Full-timing 6 years ago. Haven't had a problem with the waste breaking down or odor.
IMHO chemicals are not necessary when using the RV daily. We did use them when we were using the unit for vacations and weekend trips.

In our previous motorhome we found we did not have to use chemicals as full timers, but this one seems to need a little help. We use Happy Camper and it seems to provide the boost we need. We do not put Calgon or Dawn in the black tank. Another chemical we like, but have a harder time getting, is Sea-zyme.

Thanks to everyone for the info out there. Appreciate it. Bill, and I thank you also for the Odorless info, and Sea-Zyme. A friend gave me this site below as he buys this one too. Maybe it will help you out...if you do not have this one. Larry
