I was wondering what the CCC was for your new jeep?

Hey Bob,
The 2003 Jeep Liberty has a payload rating of 1,150 pounds, 29 cubic feet of cargo volume capacity, and can tow up to 5,000 pounds. The GVWR is 5,200 for the 4WD Sport.
Gas tank is 18.5 gallons and it is EPA rated at 17 mpg city and 21 mpg highway.
It may list 5000 pounds tow rating, but I suspect you would not be thrilled with the performance. My Jeep Grand Cherokee also has a 5K rating, but putting a loaded auto transport behind it a couple of weeks ago was not a great thing. The tow performance was marginal at best. Of course nothing that a "hemi" couldn't cure.
5000 pounds is more than the gross of the Avion pull trailers we towed. However, I would not EVER consider putting one of those behind a Liberty or a Grand Cherokee.
Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

Just like with RV tow vehicles, just because the tow ratings say you CAN tow a certain weight, it doesn't mean you SHOULD.
We would never tow anything close to 5,000 pounds with the Liberty.
A good, safe rule of thumb is to not tow more than 80% of the tow rating capacity.
