Hi Howard,
Do you have a sample Excel template for keeping track of: a. miles driven, b. miles pulling 5er, c. MPG truck only, d. MPG towing, ETC, ETC.
Thanks for any info,
Ken Pace

Ken,
I do have a spreadsheet for miles driven - towing, not towing, and total. I wouldn't exactly call it a "template" in that it is not just something anyone could just plug numbers into. Folks would have to know just a little bit about formulas.
But I'll be happy to send it to anyone that wants it.
I don't have a spreadsheet for MPG towing and not towing. I just get thay info from the truck's computer on each trip. I do calculate the total average MPG at the end of the year using my mileage spreadsheet and my fuel purchases spreadsheet.
I am tracking fuel purchases and average price per gallon for each year and for our entire travels. I'll send thatspreadsheet to anyone that wants it as well.

Howard, That would be great. I can figure out the formulas but I'd like to see how you set up the sheet. (Catagories, line items, etc.) Thanks, Ken

Howard I sure would like the spreadsheet on tracking mileage and towing mpg. Thanks and keep up the good work. I have learned more from your forum and journal than almost any other website.

I was at a local Sam's club the other day and I stopped to play a little on one of the desk top computers they had there on display. It had the Microsoft Vista system on it and also had the Microsoft Works software. As a part of the Works software there is a spread sheet program that has a number of templates to chose from when opening a new file. One of those it a spread sheet template for tracking mileage, mpg, etc. I really liked it. I think Howard has a new machine with Vista and Microsoft works on it if I remember. It wouldn't do you any good if you don't have Vista or Works on your machine but if you stop by a store and check out the template you might get some good ideas on how to set one up for yourself in Excel or what ever spread sheet software you might be using. I got some good ideas from it.

ahoweth: Thanks for pointing that out. I have a new Dell Vostro 1500 running Windows XP and it came with Works, so you don't need Vista to run Works. I hadn't looked at Works until you said it had templates since I have installed Office 2003. Looks like useful templates come with Works.
