Hi! I am the DW of Fox, one of Howard and Linda's biggest fans.
We are wannbes, scheduled for a Sept 2009 departure of the "working" world to travel and relaxation. We have spent the past 10 months getting rid of "our stuff" in preparation for our big life change. Very fortunately for me, my DH is an avid researcher and loves surfing the net. We have learned so much from RV-Dreams and hope to be able to contribute in the future.
My biggest adjustment to our new lifestyle will be the lack of an oven to bake my cookies, scones and muffins. Sigh... but I will adjust.
Hey, its not a perfect world right?
We will be looking for a used Tiffin Allegro and plan toading a Saturn Vue.
Our countdown to 2009 RVing is 26 months.

Cookie queen why wont you have an oven? Convection micro will cook and bake cookies. Our new rig didnt have an oven only convection micro I could not imagaine myself with no oven "like a boat with no water" so they are taking out 2 of the drawers below stove-top and will simply slide an oven into it, I will loose 2 of the drawers is all. I need an oven to make things in the winter months and plus it will heat up the rig....some do have convection ovens along with micro. Now I NEED to LEARN how to use the convection. southwestjudy & Bob & 2blackdogs

Hi Cookie Queen,
With a handle like Cookie Queen how could you even think of living without an oven, and more importantly, why would you think that is necessary?
We live in a 35' fifth wheel and have both a gas oven and a convection microwave. Neither takes up much room and we consider them essential.
This is going to be your LIFE, don't compromise.

Since I don't cook at home now....LOL!....will just say welcome (others have already pointed out the fact that you can bake in convection ovens as well as being able to get gas ovens in some rigs).
So, welcome and bring on the cookies, scones and MUFFINS! <g>

I too have Skype and absolutely LOVE it. I travel for business and every hotel I have stayed in around the world has internet so it doesn't matter where I am I can call DH and talk online.

Welcome to the forum.
My wife bakes cookies in our Micro/convection over a lot. Taste just like the ones she use to bake in her oven, when we had a house.

Dear Judy, thanks for the comments. I just assumed that with a convection oven that I could only bake maybe 6 cookies at a time? My current oven is a convection oven but I have never tried to use it . (On my list of things to do, learn how to use it). If the used Tiffin Allegro Bay doesn't have an oven, will just add one. That makes me happy! I really love to bake and can't quite imagine not being able to do so.

You are so right, Fred. And I won't compromise (at least on this little point). Thanks for the welcome.

My convection/microwave oven takes larger pans than my gas oven. I bake cookies, muffins, pies etc. all the time. A bigger problem is freezer space as we have only the 2-door fridge and no extra freezer to keep the extras in.
Happy baking!!!! Mary

Cookie Queen,
If you wind up with a gas oven along with the convection oven be sure you get the air insulated cookie sheets. That's what I use even in the electric oven at home. No more burnt on the bottom cookies.

It's actually gas or electric as the means of heat, and radiant (regular) or convection heating.
All convection does is blow around the hot air to prevent cold spots in the oven.
They advertise that it also speeds up the cooking, but I've never experienced it. I find it just about the same.

Hey Steel Magnolia, chocolate and coconut!!! Yummy ingredients for lots of cookies. But wait until you try my Frosted Cashews Cookies, they will melt in your mouth! Where are you from? We are from Illinois, guess I forgot to mention that in my intro. Thanks for your comments.
