Hello all.

Can any one answer this question?
I was told I could buy my own land and put my Rv ( that I don't have yet) and live on it.
Is there some kind of zoning laws prohibiting me from doing this any where in us?
We live in Hanover Pa now.
Our goal is to buy a 5th wheel and go full time rving maybe 9 months out of the year and have this property as our home base to go to
A co worker mentioned this to me.

Here in our township in Cumberland County NJ this would not be permitted. We even have restrictions on house trailers - not permitted at all. Each municipality has it's own regs. Check it out.

I guess it depends on where you are. We park ours on our land in East Texas sometimes and stay for weeks. My brother in law has his out there all the time and they stay in it on the week ends. If you have electric and water I don't see why you couldn't. Like Phyllen said some places wont let you do that.

I think that's going to depend on where you want to buy the land. Every municipality has their own laws. I can think of many places that wouldn't look kindly on the idea. Good luck, Fred

Check your city ordinences and any subdivision covenants. Where we live we are severely restricted as to where we can park a RV even if you don't live in it.

 It depends on the town, city ect. Andover, OH situated next to the Pa border has about 20 campgrounds both sides of the border. You can't park an RV in the village, but just a few miles west in a little one horse town called Cherry Valley I lived in a Fiver for about two years on private property, the village had no problem with it.  It was a rural area though. 

 We have circumvented the laws a little bit. We built an attractive polebarn style building with 14 ft walls. It is 60X 40ft with drive through doors in either end.
 We pull our RV in and have a complete hookup inside. I have even made a family style room with complete cooking and other necessities that you find in a home.
 We use it about 3 months of the year. So far no problems from any of the ZONEING Gods.
What they don't know won't hurt them.

Of course you can buy your own land and live on it, although like most said it does depend on where and how. There are many RV land options out there. One would be to buy "raw land" and depending on the zoning restrictions you may be able to "live" in your RV on this land.
Another option is buying RV land from someone like a RV land dealer/broker.
I know there are many of these spots in the lakefront areas of MN and WI. When you are not there "living" they allow you to rent out your land to other people looking to vacation. Just because you own the land doesn't mean you have to be there 24/7.
