My name is Jay Coffman. I met Howard and Linda at a Texas Boomer rally last year at Thanksgiving. We have been RV'ing for about 13 years now, having started out in a pop-up. Of course, like many others, we started camping in a tent, but that old ground gets harder as we get older, so we decided to start with the pop-up. We loved our little trailer, and to this day, would go back, just to get the feeling of camping out in the open again and "roughing it". Of course, there is something to be said about comfort too, so I guess we'll keep the big fifth wheel.
Our next trailer was a Coachmen travel trailer. I had a half-ton pickup truck and wanted to go to something bigger than the pop-up with a slide out, so we chose the Coachmen. I just never did like that trailer. It was cheaply made, and not much more confortable than the pop-up. We only kept that thing about a year and a half before buying a Mobile Scout (Sunnybrook) fifth wheel. Man, it was like daylight and dark, going from a 26' single slide travel trailer to a 33' fifth wheel with two slides. We kept the Mobile Scout until February of this year when we traded it in on a Heartland Bighorn 34' fifth wheel with three slides. So far, we love the Bighorn, even though we had a major problem with it right away. We soon got it repaired, and have not had any more problems with it.
We plan to retire and full time in about two more years. I will have 30 years in the Texas Municipal Retirement System by then, and I guess that's enough for me. I've been in Law Enforcement for most of my working life. I got out a couple of times, chasing more money or better benefits, but came back to what I do best and that's being a cop. I am now the Detective Sergeant, third in command of a tiny little Police Dept. in Brazoria County Texas and am having the time of my life! It's a busy place with lots and lots of responsibility, but I love it.
After retirement, I plan to travel with some of my friends for a few years before settling down in one place. We will probably still follow the good weather-Colorado mountains in the summer and Texas in the winters. We plan to use one of the kid's (3 daughters) home address as our's and use them for mail forwarding.
Looking forward to our new adventures....

Great to have more Texans on board. Welcome to the best forum on the Web! Maybe we will meet up in Texas or Colorado.

I am a member of several other forums, but this one seems to have some interesting topics in it so far. I am also the Houston Area Leader for the Texas Boomers RV club. I'm looking forward to meeting many new Texas folks here.
