I have been trying to decide which kind of dishes to bring with us. We are going to be full-timing as soon as we sell our house. I love to cook and I love dishes. I know I can't bring all my dishes with me, (I have 6 or 7 sets of dishes). My question is which kind of dishes do you use. Plastic, Corelle, Glass or paper plates?
Thanks for your input. Ginger

Corelle here, having been using the same 4 dinner plates, 4 smaller plates, and 4 bowls for the last nine years. I hate eating off of paper plates!

Thanks for your advise. I hate paper plates also. I am just trying to find out if people use real glass plates.

We also use Corelle dishes and have for five years. We also carry packages of disposable dishes for when we are without hookups for extended periods. We are visiting a friend who started with his good dishes. On one of his early trips he found out he had not secured them well and they all came crashing down. All of his plates were broken and he had to get the counter top repaired. He is using Corelle, it is lighter and more durable. We also use acrylic glasses, including wine glasses.

We also use Corelle and paper plates when we are trying to conserve. We try to use things that don't weigh much as weight is such a factor in this lifestyle.

I love to cook also and i sold all my heavy dishes when we went full timing. Mainly because they were heavy and didnt fit well. I have used plastic and hate it with steak knives. We do use paper plates and plan to get Corelle Ware soon when I find what I want. I have had to revamp my kitchen for this life style. Most ovens are small and stove tops are 3 burners in our RV with that said I am finding more kitchen items that are working well. southwestjudy & Bob & 2blackdogs

Count me in with Corelle most days and paper when I get lazy or am saving water. Corelle is lighter and thinner and more durable than most making it ideal for the RV - also matching replacements available most anywhere. And yet another vote with bjoyce on the acrylic "glass"ware.

I third the acrylic and Corelle is the best. Oh and you have to have some paper products for those times when water is at a minimum!

We have been fulltiming for 11 months now and we use regular china plates. I brought 6 of each - plus regular glasses and wine glasses. I have them in my cabinet and nothing has broken other than me dropping something.
I use glass bowls for cooking - they can go into the microwave and right on the table as serving dishes. I wanted to have the same things as I did in our stick house as this is our home now. Keep what you use and like - you will not regret it.

We also use Corelle plates and bowls, but have quite a few fine wines and martini glasses and havent had any problems with them breaking. You do have to pack them somewhat carefully when you're moving thoughl, the trailer at least, move around quite a bit.

I have not hit the road yet, but I was wondering the same thing. I was planning on using the dishes I already have, why buy more. I am glad to here you are using the ones you had in your house. Maybe it has something to do with the name, as I am a Peg also. LOL

We use Corelle because we didn't like the staining and marring (e.g. steak knife cuts) of melamine plastic. There is one small down side to Corelle. It will break if it takes a hard enough fall. When it does it detonates into large pieces, but many small shards of glass flake off from the break, some so small they are hard to see. Our first couple of months into fulltiming I replaced several pieces because I had not stored them securely.

Count us in on the Corelle ware. There are getting to be a lot of different patterns out there to choose from, we found one that fit our decor. Also, we use paper plates (the stiffer coated ones) on occasions where we don't feel like washing dishes or are just having a sandwich but we don't like them when we are using silverware.
