I like to know if anyone as any experience with either Gear Vendor or US Gears under drive auxiliary tranny on a Gas Powered motorhome. I'm thinking of installing a US Gear unit and I'd like to get some input, good or bad. Thx Gummy

I don't have any personnal experience, but do have a friend that installed a US Gear on his 550 Ford. It has 4:88 gears and doesn't do very well on fuel. From talking and riding with him I think it has it's advantages, it does do better on fuel, and has a gear for every reason, hill climbing to just going down the highway. The people he dealt with on the install were great, and the company, US Gear, seems to be very good. However the cost of the unit will buy a lot of fuel. Do a little bit of math before you invest.

I just read a blog written by someone that had an AT installed in their new F450 and they had a minor problem with theirs. Their onboard computer didn't recognize the fact that they had more gears speeds than it had been programmed for. They had to have the computer reprogrammed. Other than that they were happy.

Thanks folks, after talking with a local shop that does rv service repair, I've decided to hold off on the install to see if it's something that is really needed. Time will tell. Thx Gummy
