We are getting our new 5ver this next week and I have a question for you. What do you think about the dark cherry wood cabinets vs the Oak? I feel that I might get tired of the dark wood over time. Are there any other reasons I should not have dark cabinets?

There may be other considerations we haven't thought of, and this is one of those purely personal preference issues... we also haven't bought our 5th wheel yet, but.... My wife and I have spent a good deal of time just sitting in fifth wheels at shows and we pretty much agree that we think the lighter colored cabinets make the interior seem brighter and roomier, even though the actual space is the same. Neither one of us is claustrophobic, but it is going to be an adjustment from a sticks-and-bricks moving into an RV.
Best of luck on your decision... and I envy you that you're going to get there before we do.

Thanks Tim and Robyn. I am thinking the same thing. I do not want to be closed in. We had some cherry wood furniture that we got tired of in a short time so maybe we should stick to the light.

We like the light colored cabinets best as it gives a more cherry feeling and brighter area. Also I have a white stove trimmed with black and my sink and microwave are white also. I think you will also find that the wood is only "real" wood on the front of your cabiinet doors most companys do not use "real"wood on trims and etc. Southwestjudy & Bob & 2blackdogs

Judy and Bob. Your right on the cheery. Our cabinets are all wood and I really like them but I am just having those after thoughts. Our sink and all are light color too so I guess the lighter cabinets will be the right decision.

When you spend the most time inside is when the weather is dreary outside. We like having lighter cabinets since it is brighter inside and it does feel cheerier on those dreary days. Our cabinets are light maple but oak would also be good. Cherry also has a tendency to darken over time which has caused a few people trouble when they needed to replace something a couple years later.

Well, we are the dark cherry cabinet lovers. We find the dark wood gives our MH a very warm, rich feeling. We have plenty of accent lights to illuminate the inside if we want. We have never felt closed in with this color.
We had a previous MH with the light oak cabinets, and enjoyed that, too.
Guess that is why manufacturers offer color choices, everyone has a favorite. Now if we could just get them to offer decent fabric colors instead of some old circus/funeral parlor colors and patterns, we'd really have something good!
Best Regards!

We went in the middle, with honey maple. It's considerably lighter than cherry, but not as light as oak. Really gives a warm feeling at night, but the inside is bright during the day. Good luck with whatever you choose, Fred

Well just to prove there are folks out there from all sides, our motorhome has walnut cabinetry. It is beautiful and lends a very expensive look. The funiture is white leather and the cabinet tops are cream colored corian. The combination keeps the interior from being dark and dreary. Additionally we do spend time inside. Much more than we thought we wood. We have owned this coach for 6 years and haven't regretted th walnut choice a single day. You must do what makes you most comfortable. You are paying the bills not any one else so get what makes you happy.

Light for all of the reasons above but also because it has less of a tendancy to show dust for those who spend way too much time in the desert southwest.
Larry and Jacki Actually we like light pecan wood but don't have it.
